So what is the latest news on the OU and Texas to SEC situation?

it can but for every 4 star that you take, probably means another one leaves.. what would worry me more is if the development kids that usually fill in the back 5-7 players in the class are now not takes since the portal is so attractive
Yeah....especially now depending on how much playing time/NIL money is involved. That was exactly my thought on the portal balancing this out a little bit. But, now that classes can be larger due to losses in the portal it very well MAY NOT balance out. Lose some decent players with experience and be able to sign some more talented but less experienced ones. Who knows?

yes its called butthurt correlation where the only comeback is deflecting a point that actually has no relevance to the conversation to make himself feel better about losing to Kansas.

poster on a realignment board said that he's hearing that the LHN will turn into a SEC Network

also said that if UT and ou leave early, they wouldn't get a full share in the SEC since they both have signed deals for it's tier 3 rights. LHN keeps on paying UT and the ESPN plus deal ou recently signed keeps paying theirs

We'll put this in the tejas "Will be playing in the SEC in 2022" folder.

lol people didn't think they would even go to the SEC in the first place..probably cause nobody watches them, am i right?

lol but everyone pays attention.. we are the perfect heel..
To be honest, UT isn't and really hasn't been on the radar for me for a long time. That's from someone who is glad you are coming to the SEC, and whose team lost to you in a bowl game. I think you may think we think more about you than we do. It might be different for people in Texas, or people in the B12, but people in my neck of the woods and the SEC don't spend any time thinking about UT.

jesus christ shut up and go back to your back rubbing of vanderbilt or your can't miss game at charlotsville

lol look at ECU.. they are well hearsed in horns down.. whenever UGa baseball comes to town, they just say hi to each other as they pick up their hooded white robes from the cleaners

I cannot speak for my area but I am excited about Oklahoma and Texas. We usually joke with their fans about it when we see them. Both schools tend to have the same love for football as most other SEC fanbases so I see it as a good fit for both parties.

I personally would prefer Venables and his staff have a couple of years to sort things out before we jump into the SEC. It will give them some time to figure out the recruiting and transfer portal requirements before we enter a conference that demands we have more than just a pretty good first team. And we have a better chance to win conference championships where we are now which could help recruiting. However, starting this coming season, OU needs to be willing to pony up the $$$ when needed and get some defensive momentum going.

"If Oklahoma and Texas wanted to join the SEC in 2023 when the Big 12 welcomes its new members, the schools would need to pay projected nine-figure exit fees for breaking the league's grant of media rights"

Let's see. Nine figures is in excess of $100,000,000 for two years of football (2023/2024).

Does that sound like TX/OU will be keeping any of their SEC media rights or get any share from Big 12 once gone?

Of course not. That's why TX/OU won't be playing football in the SEC until 2025.
$42 mil/yr in the Big 12 is better than nothing. Especially for tejas who'll keep their LHN bonus for staying put.

Thoughts on his take?

I guess his thinking is now that it's 100% confirmed that those teams will be in the Big 12, that they will be more inclined to reach a deal with Oklahoma/Texas.

Why would they do that exactly. ??

He brought up ESPN and their desire for an earlier entry than 2025 and they may be the key.

The Big 12 will negotiate an exit for Oklahoma and Texas if they think ESPN is getting ready to screw them over with their next contract if they don't.

That's all I can think of.
Have no idea really

The remaining Big 12 schools will definitely feel like they are getting screwed by ESPN and the networks in general. The new four, not so much.

Difference is the remaining eight are having something taken away from them that they have become accustomed to. Thenother four haven’t had it (at least to that level) so they’ll like the new gig.

Kind of like pussy. Once that young man gets a taste of it and gets used to getting it regularly, they go nuts when the bitches withhold it from them!
