So what is the latest news on the OU and Texas to SEC situation?

Scuttlebutt is that game may get canceled … our return was in 2030 and they are saying we won’t play a game with no return. I’m bummed.
they say that and watch the SEC just schedule it as a home game @Georgia and then the return rotation doesnt come around for 5 years anyway

Interesting to see what the opening SEC matchup will be for both teams. I know the SEC Setup some interesting first game matchups for Missouri and Texas A&M.

I am banking on an Oklahoma-Georgia opening game as a rematch of the Playoff Game or perhaps Oklahoma-Florida as rematch of 2008 game.

I can see Texas opening with Tennessee in the battle of the UTs or LSU.

Don't expect either of those teams to have conference opening games until 2027ish due to existing commitments.

Not gonna lie, I would love to see Oklahoma and Texas in the SEC earlier than expected. I felt this way ever since bedlam 2021 plus nothing against the new members but OU is just gonna steamroll them

BYU has never lost to Oklahoma
last game between ok and Cinci was a 2 point OK win
Houston and OK are 1-1 since 2016

It's a guaranteed deal.. UT had ESPN bent over, all because they did not want us to leave to the PAC. now Chip is foolish thinking UT is going to pay ou's tab to leave..

Brown is a lot more connected than you are that’s for certain

lol.. he's been more wrong than me LOL

he was the one who said it was over, UT to the Pac, just to come crawling back the next day about it. He also said that UT would be dropping Nike and signing a contract with Under Armor. He too said that Tom was going to return a year ago

Damn

If this turns out to be true I fervently hope Oklahoma and Texas put a lot of 56-17 beat downs on these new members before we head out the door. I want to make some people wish we'd just leave already. The money won't be worth it if their conference's street cred it shot to hell by the time we leave.

Damn

I've said this since day one.
The economic haircut is simply too steep. At the very minimum (a one year early departure for 2024) would cost each school a minimum of $42 million.

That GOR's got teeth.

I think it is very dumb for the SEC to allow Oklahoma and Texas stick around until 2025.

I know @Red_Alert is correct about money but reputation needs to be considered.

So far the SEC has just let Oklahoma and Texas drive the process. However, I feel like eventually it becomes a black eye to the SEC to not step in and help future members. It just doesn't seem right. It is going to get more and more awkward seeing both OU and Texas continuing to play in the Big12.

Granted, it was a very DUMB contract to sign by Oklahoma and Texas but just find a way to buy it out and get them in the league even if we take the hit. The SEC, as a league, has the money and it will eventually get to be about reputation.

I am not in charge of this push so I am not saying this is going to happen, just saying at some point if I was Greg Sankey, I would say "enough is enough" and jump in to buy them out.

Absolutely No!

Thats money out of my pocket. I don’t give a crap when they join or if they do and I’m certainly not bankrolling it.

They are ditching a failed conference and we are being kind enough to take them in. They are lucky we aren’t charging an entrance fee.

A "failed conference" in which tejas played the biggest roll in it's failure.

The irony is you just know tejas played a major roll (most influence) in writing the GOR that they now want out of.

LMAO!!
