Soaking Wet Friday…..

Prayers to the person who died on I4 when a sign fell on them
Prayers to the family members of that person.

I'd have a difficult time speaking at the deceased's funeral, though. "Sorry your family member was too stupid/stubborn to heed all the warnings that a life-threatening hurricane was imminent and decided to drive through it. #FloridaMan"

Tampa is a fucking mess. I lived over by USF and I hear that’s even underwater
Bucs hosting the Eagles on Sunday.

Are they going to have to move that game elsewhere?

How can the states be this unprepared? 4 million without power?

Something must be desperately wrong with the infrastructure of these places to be this badly flooded?

For starters, tropical storm force winds extended out 300 miles from Helene's center. Those winds break branches and knock trees over as the soil around their root systems gets saturated. Said branches and trees take down power lines.

#2. This thing didn't just die when it came ashore.
Category 1 and Category 2 Hurricane force winds pushed half way into Georgia.

#3. Helene is a large storm. Due to a frontal system, it had been raining in places along the east coast long before the hurricane came ashore.
That rain saturated the ground (flooding) and made it easy for trees to fall over.
There are some places that have had 20" of rainfall in just a couple days.

Isn't that also the Stadium FEMA (or whoever) picked as a shelter for the Hurricane? So I would imagine the game will still be on. Not sure many fans will be attending though

Had a crash behind our house on the highway. Wife heard it but I didn't. It's windy so probably why I didn't. Wife goes out & one vehicle is smashed in the front & other up the hill across the highway. The one up the hill can't see damage facing us. They took passenger of smashed up out on a stretcher & to EMS. Luckily it was almost in front of the fire dept.

Big away game today at 1. No rain in the forecast.
