GAME Sugar Bowl: Ole Miss v Baylor 7:45c ESPN

You mean the ones that opted out?

there’s no doubt many players take these bowl games seriously. But clearly many don’t. Hence the opt outs. It’s an exhibition. Regardless whether players treat it as such.
Disagree, it’s not an exhibition. Pre-season NFL is exhibition.

Let’s run some clock boys!

Baylor not having a coach whose sleeves are a different color than the rest of his shirt doesn't seem right still.

That’s your opinion. Character stills matter to some people
Sitting out an exhibition game has nothing to do with character. The team isn't playing for anything. If they sat out the CFP -- then yes, it could hurt how teams view their character. These games mean absolutely nothing. What does Ole Miss win if they win this game? In CFB, once the regular season and CCG games are done -- the ONLY bowl games with meaning are the CFP's.

Like the great Ricky Bobby said -- If you aren't first, your last.

Oddly enough Nike made those for every B12 school that used them a few years ago. The ole Mother in Law got me one for Christmas that year. I like it but it is a bit douchy at times

You are playing for something in the season. You are playing for a conference championship, you are playing for a national championship, you are playing to improve your draft stock.

Bowl games are meaningless for players who are essentially guaranteed 1st or 2nd day picks. He isn't raising his draft stock by playing in this game. He wins absolutely nothing by playing in this game, neither does the team, other than a trophy.
Yes, unfortunately ego over character. Won’t be long before we start seeing guys sit out playoff games and mid season. Sad what CF is becoming

How bout some first downs, Bares?

That’s how most of us feel about you

Eh, that only counts as one, do it some more

You are (or should be) playing for the team as well. Your football family. The guys who have sacrificed for you as well.

I don't like kids getting hurt and there have been a few cases of guys with career ending injuries in bowl games, but it's very rare. Even this ankle injury here isn't likely a career ending thing.

Want to skip out on some crap tier nothing bowl? I don't like it, but I can understand it (still don't respect it), but major top bowls? Go get glory to end your college career and do it for you, your school, and your teammates. The ones also leaving and the ones staying that helped you get to your draft slot to begin with.

It all sounds great until you see the amount of cash a player loses when getting injured in a meaningless bowl game. Jaylen Smith went from a top 5 pick to the 2nd round. It went from 5 years guaranteed and 30+ million to only 4 years guaranteed. Cost him 10+ million dollars to win what?

Jake Butt went from the top TE in the country to blowing out his knee in a meaningless bowl game. He went from projected late 1st, early 2nd all the way to the 5th round. The NFL only guarantees rookie contracts in the 1st 4 rounds.

Corral back on the sideline on crutches. Hate to see the injury and career ending like that

And he’s on record saying he wouldn’t have changed a thing
