The NCAA has gone soft.

Eh, playing a round of dandy-balls and penis-butt in the locker room doesn't give you a competitive advantage.i still want all of Norhtwestens wins last year vacated first.

No, not really if ya have money (Tennessee certainly does) everyone is after college level experienced players now over developing the high school kids anyway. Of course you’d like to have as much depth as possible and having the greenhorns waiting in the wings and developing is ideal but.. it’s not like it was 5-10 years ago, NIL has changed everything. Is a loss of scholarships really that impactful anymore, in light of NIL?
Hell -- If I were Tennessee, I'd look at the loss of scholarship as a positive. That is money they will save having to pay scholarship kids. No, not really if ya have money (Tennessee certainly does) everyone is after college level experienced players now over developing the high school kids anyway. Yeah but USC's penalty was child's play compared to SMU's.This is the annual “Let’s point and laugh at USC” thread. They’re the last NCAA program to actually get punished for breaking the rules.
The next time a team wins the NC based on bringing in a ton of transfers will be the first. The proper use is to supplement the good high school players you get and to strengthen weak position rooms. The problem is there are reasons that players who transfer generally (1) didn't live up to the HS ratings, (2) couldn't get playing time where they were, or (3) they are attitude problems. None of those are good things and loading up your team with those types of players as a primary source of recruiting isn't going to work, IMO. There are exceptions of course ... but those players are going to get spread around a few here and there, and there aren't enough of them tom build a roster. No, not really if ya have money (Tennessee certainly does) everyone is after college level experienced players now over developing the high school kids anyway. feel like the transfer portal can be used as a program changer in basketball but not so much in football. The next time a team wins the NC based on bringing in a ton of transfers will be the first. Took TCU to the championship game last year. Granted , didn’t win it but there are a whole lot of other teams that would have changed seasons with them. The next time a team wins the NC based on bringing in a ton of transfers will be the first. I’m not familiar with TCU being a transfer team. Also they got their with a huge dose of luck.Took TCU to the championship game last year. Granted , didn’t win it but there are a whole lot of other teams that would have changed seasons with them.
The HS players are better now than 10-15 years ago coming out but experienced is always better than inexperienced when you level up in competition, particularly at the most important areas (QB/DL/OL).
UGA had more talented QB’s riding the bench the last two years but stuck with experience (transfer) and it paid huge dividends.
went there via what means?I’m not familiar with TCU being a transfer team. Also they got their with a huge dose of luck.
To me the transfer portal problem is the culture. You can develop that with high school classes easier than transfers.
Bennett is not a true transfer … he started at UGA and went to JUCO .
Are scholarships even a thing anymore? I mean, boosters could easily NIL players they want through college (as long as they stayed and were productive28 scholarships ain’t chump change.
Vacating wins just means that the winning team cannot claim the win in their all-time records, but the loss still stands for the losing teams in their all-time records. So, even if Northwestern had to vacate their wins from 2022, the loss would still count for Nebraska. That being said, your comment was funny.i still want all of Norhtwestens wins last year vacated first.
USC was doing things that Ohio State finds outrageous.Did they take away wins? Heisman trophies? Send a star player into the arms of a Kardashian?

Does Nebraska finally get a bowl game then?!?!i still want all of Norhtwestens wins last year vacated first.
It worked for LSU baseball and his year.I agree with this assessment. Building a team off of transfers is a short term fix, but isn't likely sustainable in the long haul. You eventually need to get the elite talented players straight out of high school that will be a long term (3 - 4 years) foundation for your team.
Better off loading up with JUCO transfers (a la Bill Snyder) that didn't qualify academically out of high school so had to go the JUCO route to qualify.
