They already got them when A&M joined.
it's not about markets..it's about actual views now. From TV ratings or views on a stream
I honestly think this report is a ploy. It is the shot across the bow to let everyone know realignment is on its way and let the process begin. I doubt OU as Texas could keep it quiet and would not listen to other offers. Not to mention there will be political issues for both Texas and OU in state.
There is no better scenario for these schools.. Going to the PAC is like going to a lesser Big12 in 2011. BiG? LOL... yeah I can't wait to make trips up to WI, MN, wherever Purdue plays...

I still think its cute how OU can't live without their daddy UT......
Nebraska never could quite get to the point that Oklahoma has been for years. The only way to coexist with Texas is to beat them on a regular basis. Then the nonsense is held to a minimum and people at OU and UT are smart enough to build on their joint strength instead of always trying to fight battles by themselves. Texas beat Nebraska like a drum. Texas had zero respect or fear of Nebraska. THAT's a perfect example of Texas being someone's daddy.

At some point, when these conferences get too large, are teams really in conferences together anymore? If you're playing another team like once a decade, are you really in the same conference? It seems more like we're entering an MLB/NFL type system where we're creating leagues and divisions within those leagues.
we are on our way to 4 super confrerences and the playoffs will be 12-16 teams. with 2 division winners playing combination of 8 at larges

I think we might be on the way to 3 super conferences within 10-20 years. The ACC Might be able to hold off but I wouldn't be shocked if the ACC and the B12 dissolve into the other 3 conferences.

ACC needs to be assertive now. They really need to add ND to give them a fighting chance moving forward.

The one thing they have is basketball, and that might hold off some of this. The B12 is basically nothing without OU and Texas. But really, Clemson is the ACC right now. And there's not much national impact from any of the other big names (FSU/Miami/UNC). If they don't grab another big name like ND, they might be forced; or if one team jumps ship they're done.

Which begs the question. Why do the big dogs keep the "hanger oners" around? Cannon fodder? Charter members? That shit don't pay the freight any more.

I can't be convinced that there is nationwide demand of "views" for a game between "non needle movers" like Kentucky/Vanderbilt or Purdue/Rutgers. Now Kentucky/Bama or Purdue/Ohio State yeah, those latter two might attract the casual viewer in Portland, Phoenix or Boston...even if they are playing a team that doesn't move the needle. There are only a few teams that can command "views" from casual viewers outside a regional area.

The key is getting ND to join as a full time member
the B10 needs to go super hard to get ND. That's going to be a key member for one of the conferences to get.
