Big 12 country is just in an unfortunate geographic position. It's like Germany in a way. On all sides It's surrounded by strong or stronger neighboring conferences and as such can't stay out of trouble. Over the long haul this might bring some much needed stability, though. (Powerful allies keep the peace better than weak ones.)

or it sucks for an entire conference to feed on only one source (Texas) for all it's needs. PAC is going through similar with the CA bed slowing down a bit with people leaving. But they have another potential well in AZ.

I will say to aggys credit, once they joined the SEC, that really really hurt recruiting in the state of Texas. Players who normally found themselves at osu, isu, or even KU were now going to the MSU, Ole Miss, AU of the conference.

Being top heavy is another weakness, in fact we can continue on with this list of things and they all add up to what we see happening.

The pac has a buffer zone though that the big 12 doesn't. Itll never make cultural or geographical sense for USC or Washington to jump to the SEC like it did for Texas or Oklahoma. As conferences expand though that same buffer zone could become a detriment as well vs say the SEC that could still go after Clemson, VaTech, NC State, FSU, Miami, UNC, West Virginia, Oklahoma State, etc. or the B1G that could go after Notre Dame, Kansas, Iowa State and more.

wait..didn't y'all leave the Big 8 and Big 12 to die.. or is it all Texas ?

Nebraska left the Big Xii only when it was clear that Texas had plans AND talks with the PAC to take half the Big XII and head west.

so if Kansas were to sign with the B1G tomorrow, and then Texas fucks shit up for both them and OU with the SEC, would you be mad at Kansas for abandoning ship?

I’ll hang up and listen to your reply.

Shit, I said it would take a kings ransoms to get me back to the state of Oklahoma. This might be a good start.

yep, made out like a bandit..
Indeed they did.

Big 10 2020 revenue share: $54 million
SEC 2020 revenue share: $45 million
Big 12 2020 revenue share $34 million

SEC will 'at least' match the Big 10 in their next media rights negotiations.
The question is will Kevin Warren fuck up the Big 10's when theirs comes up for re-negotiation in 2 years?

Just a thought: If the ACC did raid the remaining Big XII teams
Oh boy. The AAC is shit talking now! :tsk:
Just a thought: If the ACC did raid the remaining Big XII teams wouldn't it make sense to rename the conference? The Big XII teams are a helluva long way from the Atlantic Ocean. Just sayin'.
