lol this is really rich coming from a Bama fan that program is known to drop bags to recruits to sign. Can of worms was opened a long time ago. Now that you can do NIL deals that rival or even surpass some McDonalds bags of cash or a fresh new Charger, it's the end?

Please tell me how NIL was supposed to work in your mind?

yep, coming off last week's 100k per player announcement too. There's one more to go but it's still a few weeks away. But the goal is for every room to have it's own deal. I know Kenny Vaccarro is working on one for the DBs. KD and TJ Ford have another for Basketball players too

This deal was put together by some brilliant assholes on surly.. they tested it with Burnt Ends (TE room, which i too donate monthly). And they got this one together. Best part is that former athletes are jumping on board. And right now the 50k per each OL, will only go up in the near future. Not a bad incentive to be on scholarship and getting 150k a year

Well... Well known schools like Bama, USC etc have much bigger pockets when it comes to donors

One of the guys that worked on this was saying when this thing is fully operational, it's def going to set things apart. However schools like UM and tosu can compete with it and should because this is a model so many will copy

BTW.. slush funds work too and fans..not just students or alumni.. can do the same thing

NIL no but you know those schools will chip in some money or something like that to get a player to come in

The big question is which schools will actually utilize it. I know UM has put pretty strict restrictions on NIL deals so far. Will they actually push for things like Texas is doing? IDK. We regularly don't admit kids into school who are elite football recruits because of academics. So that may transfer over to NIL; snobbery. Texas is the beneficiary of our latest -- Xavier Worthy.

Schools never chip in money to players. They pay stipends, scholarships, rooming, meals, etc. Even in the behind the scenes era.. money came from boosters or friends of the program to the players or recruits.

From the guys that put this together.. Texas did not help at all. This was all heart and hustle in wanting to do something. UT has been strict which was frustrating cause the compliance dept wouldn't even let players make shirts with the color of burnt orange.

Admissions falls under the school.. these NIL deals don't.. which is why you don't see a press conference from the actual administration about this.

Michigan's limits what the athletes can do. I wonder if something like this would get banned by the school.

"Michigan is also prohibiting its student-athletes from entering into agreements in which it says could “harm the reputation” of the school, like gambling, tobacco or adult entertainment. Beginning July 16, student-athletes must disclose any NIL activity with the university at least seven days ahead of time."

"harm the reputation of the school" is pretty damn subjective.

I am sure there have been instances where schools do more than that... But I get what you are saying
