Texpectations: Longhorn Superthread

Osu will be a tough game for you as well.
yeah i was looking at the away games.. but you are correct Gundy has owned UT in Austin lately

Herman is a member of Mensa. Probably too smart to be a HC. Overthinks things. It’s better than having a coach like Kirby Smart who underthinks things, but neither really works

How long does Campbell stay at ISU?

Dude has to be on top of the short list for just about every big opening in the country.
Not sure why UM is even entertaining Harbaugh right now.. he's openly looking for an NFL gig which is why he hasn't signed his contract which is a decrease in pay?

If I were UM i'd back the brinks truck on Campbell's driveway. Make him say no.

any quantifiable things? Yall went 7-3 in this COVID shortened season, and thats certainly below expectations for a 4th year coach at UT.

Assuming a return to the normal 12-game schedule, is 9-3 acceptable? 10 wins the benchmark for good vs disappointing season?
No. Record in the first year isn’t my measuring stick at all for the first year.

I’d rather lose most of the first-half-season games while we conservatively and boringly try to instantiate a real offense than to sell out those goals to garner some easy wins.

For example, it’s the difference between starting, let’s say, a Buechele and developing a proper running attack rather than, let’s say, a blockhead fullback who can’t throw behind center and let him carry the ball to protect a ‘seven win’ season.
You know... just for example.

bro give it a rest.. Buchele wouldn't had made it 6 games in 2017, hell he was terrible after hurting his shoulder the season before. Sam is who we needed.

I'm happy that isn't the case yet!

I hear OSU boosters are offering Harbaugh a boatload of money if he takes a lifetime contract at Michigan. :D

Not if one of those was to TCU.

7-3 that could have easily been 4-6. No business losing to TCU, going to OT to beat Tech. Tom's decision making vs ISU was some of the worst coaching he's done here, and he's done a lot of WTF was he thinking games while here.

He had a 4 year starting QB, two turnover staffs and was still struggling with teams he had no business doing so. Sark doesn't have to be a savior.. just be competent.. both on gamedays and on the trail.

Nothing is going to happen that will prevent OU from winning a 7th straight big 12 title

Eh. Every program is subject to let down games (Purdue). As long as it's the exception and not the norm, most fans move on from it.

The problem with Texas in the last decade is that it's become the norm.

I guess I'm wondering why Texas didn't go after Matt Campbell.
Maybe they did and we just don't know it.

They reached out and MC camp was receptive back in early DEC. But according to IT, the search committee felt it just wasn't a good fit for UT or for Campbell. No job was offered and no face to face meeting took place like they had with Urban. That's when they started looking into Brian Kelly and Sark.

True but TCU seems to be heading toward a norm. And for some reason that just sticks in the craw of the rusty cow faithful. That game and the squeaker win over Tech were what sent them over the edge more than the OU or ISU games.

exactly.. I hate ou, but even I understand that they too have a lot of talent.. I get that. What I don't understand is losing to TCU, and making whichever bad QB look like an all american vs us.. or to let it's 210 lb LB truck our RBs and interior OL..
