I remember all the rumored trades that JD turned down for him. it's why I hate that guy. To this day he still is trading on that Tex deal. other than bringing in Cliff Lee and the Tex trade, JD never made a right move.

Could be a hall of famer or a bust still.

Definitely could have used Andrus, Feliz and Harrison. Sent all that out and when we traded Tex, we only got Casey Kotchman back
 
I know he doesn't belong on a 21st century list, but my favorite for a list like this is Robert "Hurricane" Hazle. Supernova 1957. Out of baseball by 1959.

Chamberlain, Kennedy and Hughes were supposed to lead the Yankees to another dynasty. Hughes is the only one that saw any kind of success in New York, and Kennedy wound up having the best career out of the bunch, even if it’s mostly centered around that one monster year in Arizona.

But I remember the Mets having Generation K as a kid in the 90’s. Isringhausen turned out to be a decent closer in Oakland and St Louis around his numerous TJ’s. Paul Wilson never did anything but get pummeled by Kyle Farnsworth and I don’t remember the name of the other guy
 
Colby Rasmus, soom to be joined by Paul DeJong and Alex Reyes.

Dustin Ackley
Jesus Montero (another guy who was put into Cooperstown because He WaZ a YaNkEe)
Taijuan Walker, Julio Teheran and Shelby Miller and Matt Moore I wouldn't call busts but well underperformed given their prospect status


Any pitchers Pirates drafted in the 1st round from 2001-2007 (not named Paul Maholm).

I know you said made it to the majors, so this guy is excluded. But he was the first minor leaguer that I ever remember knowing who he was, and I have a stack of this card.

Ackley should be on the list for sure. Montero possibly, but Arencibia probably still tops him for me.

Did Starling ever make it to the Majors?

Teheran, Moore and Walker I’d say are/were disappointing, but weren’t bad enough to truly fall in the bust category

2019-2020 he finally did. Kind of amazing both of them decided to keep that marriage going for as long as they did and not just decide to move on.
 
No. 1 overall pick Bryan Bullington.

I actually struggle to call him a bust relative to expectations since everyone basically from day 1 thought he'd suck.

Yeah, change of scenery could have helped him and you get to a certain age, you’re not a prospect anymore, but he should be on the list too. I didn’t know he ever made it to the bigs, though I guess he was really already established as a bust before he ever got called up
 
I can't believe not a single one of you Braves fans has mentioned Andy Marte yet.
 
Every #1 overall pick since 2013. Dansby Swanson is arguably the best player of the bunch.

I’d never heard of him before. Bad run of first overall picks in the 00’s with Josh Hamilton and Matt Bush not being able to stay out of trouble
