The annual postseason top 10 coaches in the country list

The sheer volume of blue chip recruits didn’t really change between the end of Richt’s tenure and the start of Smart’s, again what was the reason Richt wasn’t at the same level at the end as Kirby was in the beginning?

Florida and Miami were down for the second half of Richt’s tenure.

You failed. You’re a failure. You should be embarrassed. If you were Japanese, you’d be killing yourself right about now
I just gave you three main reasons -- now you want to make excuses. And when a top program just starts to go down, kids still give them the benefit of the doubt. The longer they are a train wreck, the more likely they are going to look elsewhere to go to school.

You gave reasons that were debunked. Florida Florida had been through Muschamp and were with McElwain at the end of Richt’s tenure, and Miami had been down for over a decade.

Smart is a great recruiter and you’re not nearly capable of proving otherwise

2012 -- you signed 4 five st-ar recruits and 7 of the top 75. You signed a 5 star from NC, a 5 star from Florida and two 5 stars from Georgia. Was only ranked 9th overall because you only signed 17.

2013 -- Bama fleeced the state of Georgia recruits and the top in state recruit Georgia signed was the 7th ranked player in the state and it was STILL the highest ranked player Georgia signed. Only Florida recruit pulled was the 31st ranked player in the state.

2014 -- Multiple 5 stars, majority of the class is from Georgia and Florida, but again -- the top kids in Florida are still going mostly to Florida schools. Georgia was able to get the #3 ranked Sony Michel out of Florida. He also signed Nick Chubb in this class. 8th ranked recruiting class but only signed 20 guys.
h
2015 -- Multiple 5 stars, Majority of the class is from Georgia -- Roquan Smith being the biggest name. Recruiting class was ranked 6th overall.

The biggest difference between the recruiting classes from Smart and the recruiting classes of Richt -- the rank of the in state recruits after Smart took over.

His 2017 class -- he had 14 kids he signed from the state of Georgia. 6 in the top 100 and the other 8 in the top 200. That class was ranked 3rd and he signed the max number. Something Richt didn't do a lot of years.

His 2018 class was his 1st #1 class. 8 of the top 87 players were from the state of Georgia -- all signed with Georgia, including 5 five star guys. Here is where slowly Florida guys are migrating to Georgia more often, as all the Florida schools are struggling. He signs 2 of the top guys in Florida.

His 2019 was ranked #2, but now you have 4 of the top guys in Florida coming to Georgia, including 5 star #1 overall Nolan Smith.

Do I think Smart is a better recruiter? Maybe. But I think he built off the success he had with Richt's recruiting class that had players like Chubb, Michel, Roquan Smith, etc. Until those guys had a big year for Georgia, they will pulling in the same type of classes as Richt.

Saban picked off the best talent in Georgia under Richt, and doesn’t under Kirby. Reckon why?

And you last paragraph is laughable considering the 2017 class was the best UGA class ever at that point(has been passed numerous times since) and that was after coming off an 8-5 first year for Kirby when the only player drafted off the 2016 team was Isaiah McKenzie.

You stuck your foot in your mouth. Doubling down with more and more novels makes you look worse. A simple “my bad, I was wrong” is all you need to say

Alabama just signed the #1 and #2 kids from Georgia in the 2023 class. Alabama still picks off kids from Georgia -- there is just so many more now -- it isn't as big of a deal. The 10th ranked kid from Georgia signed with Alabama, the 10th ranked player from Georgia is still in the top 125 in the nation. That is how ridiculous the talent pool is in state.

And that 2023 class doesn't bode well for Georgia, as Bama signed 12 of the top 80 players with 8 of them in the top 40. So unless Bama has multiple guys get hurt again against Georgia -- they will likely be taking over the SEC again.

Nope, respond to the entire comment or GTFO. We don’t play those games here.

And Kirby wins far more battles against Saban than Richt ever tried to do. Just admit you were wrong instead of being of being a coward and leaving off the meat of a post you’re responding to

Again -- the 2017 class was so good for Georgia because they signed not 4 or 5 kids from Georgia, not 9 or 10 kids from Georgia. 17 of the 25 recruits were signed from the state of Georgia!!!!!!!

And the craziest part about signing 17 kids from the state of Georgia and finishing with your best recruiting class ever. You didn't even sign the #1 or #2 kid from the state of Georgia.

Over 10% of the top 200 recruits were from the state of Georgia in 2017. THAT is why Georgia had such a great class that year. What Mark Richt's recruits did on the field is why the recruiting continued, as Georgia finished #2 riding the back of 2,700 yards rushing from Chubb and Sony Michel.

What else would you like me to respond to? I've posted articles showing how the blue chip talent level in Georgia has risen by 300% since the turn over the century, as the population has risen by 2.5 million people, after you insisted Georgia isn't putting out more talent now.

You said Saban doesn't pick off the top recruits in Georgia anymore and I show you he did exactly that this year. Now you've moved the goal post and it is Kirby wins more battles than Richt.

Feel free to move the goal post again. At some point you will make a legit argument.

What Mark Richt’s kids did on the field. Jake Fromm, D’Andre Swift, Mecole Hardman, Javon Wims and Isaac Nauta were all Kirby’s recruits on that 2017 team, and that’s just on offense.

Kirby won battles that Richt didn’t even enter. That’s why Kirby is a better recruiter than Richt. Even further evidenced by Richt’s stint at Miami.

You keep bringing up the turn of the century. I am ONLY concerned with Richt’s tenure than overlapped with Saban being at Alabama. Why is that so hard for you?

Of course Saban is gonna still get some Georgia kids, he’s not getting as many as he used to though, and Kirby’s ability to recruit nationally as well as anyone helps out the cause. Was Richt gonna get D’Andre Swift out of Philadelphia following an 8-5 season where the offense looked lost and only one player on the whole team was drafted?

Ain’t no goal post being moved. I’m just toying with a moron that doesn’t give credit where it’s due because he’s stupid.

That's great all the role players you mentioned. Chubb and Michel were responsible for 2700 yards and 32 touchdowns. The rest of the team combined had 31 touchdowns.

Yes -- I bring up the turn of the century because that is when Richt started coaching at Georgia. You see, I'm not cherry picking a few years and then saying -- see this is why one is better than the other.

Truth be told -- Georgia could put you as Head Coach right now and still pull in top 15 recruiting classes. That's how stacked the state of Georgia is.

That’s still a lot of touchdowns by others including the only two scored in the NCG.

And reckon why they decided to stay for their senior years after that 8-5 junior year they had in Kirby’s first year when they both would have been drafted?

Over half of his tenure is cherry picking a few years. You’re dumb boy.

They stayed for their senior year, because Georgia was paying them good money, even before NIL was around. We've established that already on here.

Move the goal post anywhere you'd like. It is entertaining.
Not really. Richt was coaching for 9 years with Saban at Bama, 6 without. Which is more relevant, especially since “towards the end” has been said numerous times in reference to Richt’s recruiting. You’re just dumb. Long winded, but still very dumb

I'm not reading all that, but is the argument whether or not Smart can recruit? Seriously?

Think they were paid enough to risk losing out on the guaranteed money they’d make in the draft had they declared after 2016? They were definitely paid, but coming back was a major gamble for their long term finances. The gamble paid off since both had arguably the best season of their college career their senior season and improved their draft stock, but had Chubb tore up his knee again, he might not have been drafted at all. There was money involved for sure, but there was more to it than that

Pretty much. Saban and Day too, but mostly Smart.

If anyone can land elite recruiting classes based solely on location, the Florida schools and UCLA would be right up there with Bama, UGA and OSU, and Auburn too for that matter.
