A few mentioned here that aren't getting enough love:
Alien and Captain America. Both with one meh movie and two amazing ones. Star Wars is sorta similar but the original trilogy gets plenty of love.

Star Wars
LOTR
then everything else. Of the remaining, I like the Back to the Future series the most. The Matrix, Part 1 was great, the rest were completely disappointing.

Original Spider-Man trilogy, yeah 3 was hot garbage but the first 2 were fun
Jurassic Park Trilogy (yeah I know there are 5 movies) but JP is a classic and I liked The Lost World. JP3 sucked ass though

Worked my way back through the Nolan Batman trilogy these past 3 Saturdays. The Dark Knight Rises is so underrated. It might be the best of the series, it is certainly far more epic than the other two especially in its scope. The only downside of the movie is it drags for a bit when he goes down into the pit for a year or whatever with a broken back. But every thing before that point and after that point is electric.
