Do the writers not realize that Ty Cobb is in the HOF? Schilling's an ass, but he never attacked a fan. I think that's a little worse than saying stupid shit.

It’s pretty well proven that 90% of the Cobb stories were lies made by one jaded journalist in the 50’s. @broncosmitty and @Bryce Harper can tell you more than me

But tbh, I didn’t check the bibliography to see if any of Stumps work is cited. I know there are some papers, by me, that cite Stump. Which sucks.

I disagree, I think his peak was HOF worthy.

Andruw Jones, 1998-06:
.270/.347/.513, 119 wRC+, 319 home runs, 940 RBI, 57.3 fWAR (the only players with more WAR were Bonds and A-Rod)

On top of being a good hitter, he was an all-time great fielder.

agreed. Murphy's peak was very good, but I don't think it was good enough and rest of his career outside of 80-87 was very underwhelming. Same thing for Dave Parker, 5-6 great seasons and a lot of meh.
