Movie The Flash (2023)

Spacey had a movie in the can a few years ago, and that one was pulled and completely reshot with a replacement actor. It wasn’t a high budget film, though, granted.

Unfortunately for WB, it's a very different situation: Kevin Spacey was only a supporting character in All the Money in the World and only had about 5-10 minutes screentime, all non-action talky scenes, and half his scenes were him being alone, so reshooting with Christopher Plummer was easy.

Ezra Miller is the lead of the entire movie, in a movie wherein he is supposedly playing multiple versions of himself from different timelines or universes resulting in a really high percentage of total screentime. It's a big-budget, big-effects movie filled with complex action sequences involving lots of big-name actors and crew, all of whom would have to be scheduled to be brought back.

WB can't reshoot this movie with someone else without spending tens of millions of dollars.

DCEU problems.

This whole project, from start to finish has been a complete shit show. Bad casting, bad scripts, bad universe building.

I like the IDEA of a DCEU. But the DCEU we got was executed so very badly.

burn this with a fire...

i hope anyone that watches this shit in the theater gets struck by lightning on the way out...

Oh my….

Holy shit, it is never-ending with this guy. Two more incidents in the last week, and the details are just so insane:

Rolling Stone: Ezra Miller housing mother and three young children at Vermont farm: video shows at least eight assault weapons, rifles, and handguns lying around the living room, with some weapons propped up next to a pile of stuffed animals; a one-year-old put a loose bullet in her mouth

The Daily Beast: Court issues harassment prevention order against Ezra Miller after argument over parcheesi and threatening mother and child with gun, accusing her of being a witch and vampire:

The Daily Beast said:
“[Miller] was wearing a bulletproof vest—and I had no idea until later that they were armed,” recalls the visiting neighbor.

The Daily Beast said:
Tensions began brewing when the mother says she mentioned doing some traveling recently with “her tribe” of people, leading Miller to snap at her and accuse her of cultural appropriation. Then, a conversation about board games allegedly went sideways when, after Miller claimed that the board game Parcheesi had Rastafarian roots, the visiting neighbor—who is half-Black—questioned Miller as to which sect of the Rastafari movement it originated from.

The Daily Beast said:
“At this point, Ezra explodes and started screaming directly into my face,” the visiting neighbor tells me. “They said, ‘You don’t even know what the fuck you’re talking about. What did you say to me? What did you just say to me?!’

The Daily Beast said:
“I was very caught off-guard,” the visiting neighbor continues. “Then they opened up their jacket—they had this, like, big Sherpa jacket—and they opened up one side of their jacket, you could see a gun, and they said, ‘Talking like that could get you into a really serious situation.’”

The Daily Beast said:
Next, according to the visiting neighbor, the mother, and the child, Miller focused their attention on the then-11-year-old, saying, “I’ve talked extensively with your child, and they have a lot of power to them. At one point, you’re going to realize that you don’t have any control over them anymore. They’re an elevated being, and they would be lucky to have someone like me guide them.”

The Daily Beast said:
They say Miller proceeded to turn to the mother, who dresses Goth, and accused her of being a witch and a vampire, repeatedly yelling at her, “Do you want to drink my blood? Do you!?”

"It's not just me that wants to drink it, my whole tribe does!!!"

So, apparently, back in 2014, the final candidates that WB were considering for the Flash were Ezra Miller, Dylan O'Brien, and Timothee Chalamet.

Can you imagine how much the WB executives must be kicking themselves now and wishing they had chosen O'Brien or Chalamet instead (especially Chalamet, who is now one of the top rising stars)?

Timothee Chalamet is fucking awful. He wouldn't work at all as the Flash just like he doesn't work in any of his other roles where he's fighting people because he's so damn scrawny.

Chalamet would work just fine as the Flash. Why does the Flash need to be muscular? He's beating people with speed, not strength. Gustin and Miller aren't muscular either.

F = M*A

Flash SHOULDNT be a “big” guy. John Wesley Shipp never worked in the role for me.

Chalamet is not an elevated being. You'd be able to understand that if you stopped letting others control you. You have such power, you should really let someone help you realize it. Would you do that?

No SDCC news about this one?

Tells me that they have no idea how to proceed with this one…

No news on Flash whatsoever.

It's actually kind of funny and embarrassing how incredibly bad DC is at building a cinematic universe compared to Marvel and how hard they were crushed by Marvel at this SDCC.

Marvel was at the convention announcing something like a dozen projects, some huge like the two Avengers films, years down the line, and Kevin Feige has the entire next decade planned out.

Meanwhile DC spent SDCC getting literally booed by fans for Henry Cavill not appearing (after rumors that he would be making an appearance for some Superman news) and talking about Black Adam and Shazam! 2, both films slated for this year, and... that was pretty much it? DC doesn't even know what they're going to do with their films for next year! :L

Make it my full time job and I will map out 5 years for them. And I don’t even read DC (or Marvel, for that matter).

How hard can it be? Just don’t cast wacko nut jobs as your torch bearers.

Though, to be fair, RDJ was kinda a wacko nut job when Marvel cast him as Stark…

DC needs to focus on its independent films like Batman, Joker, and Suicide Squad. When they try to group characters they always screw it up.

I’m interested to see how Black Adam does and how well they pull off the Justice Society because there is an opportunity to grow that in different universe. Would love to see the Golden Age Batman join that group when Huntress was his daughter with Selina Kyle. In fact that would be worth exploring in the new Batman movies since Catwoman has already been introduced.

So, a fact I saw pointed out elsewhere on the Internet that shows how incredibly badly DC has mismanaged this Flash movie:

On October 7, 2014, the Flash TV series began airing.

On October 15, 2014, the Flash movie was announced.

The Flash TV series is now expected to complete its final season next year, capping a 9-year 184-episode run, BEFORE the Flash movie is ever released.

Obviously the conclusion here is that the TV Flash runs much faster than the movie Flash

I don’t know…

It took him 9 years to get here. That’s kinda slow.

That sounds like Nazi blood drinker talk. Stop harming your children and let them be elevated
