Nebraska Cornhuskers The Official 10000 posts for a Husker Conference Championship

I wouldn't be surprised if they don't win another game. Honestly, I don't expect anything from the Huskers anymore until they prove me wrong consistently.

But I think if Casey Thompson, Trey Palmer and Anthony Grant can stay healthy and give you production on offense, and Bill Busch's defense continues to adjust at halftime and play like they have in the second half the last two games, they have a fighter's chance in most of the remaining games.

Imagine if the offensive line improves just 50%. Tall task though.

Yeah, what I posted is just stats and doesn't take into account Strength of Schedule.

Purdue: 12th
Illinois: 62nd
Minnesota: 111th
Michigan: 99th
Wisconsin: 58th
Iowa: 38th

Minnesota may be 13th in Total Offense and 1st in Total Defense, but they haven't played anyone.

Nebraska is currently 93rd on SOS.
That makes sense with Northwestern, Georgia Southern, and Oklahoma crashing and burning.

Records since beating Nebraska...
Northwestern: 0-5
Georgia Southern: 1-3
Oklahoma: 0-3

Nebraska's remaining SOS is 8th

Man, it's been almost 4 weeks of listening to the local talking heads breakdown coaching candidate after coaching candidate.
What I have learned from the information, pros & cons, and opinions of them all, is that I have no fucking idea who the right man for the job will be.
I do not envy Trev.

That being said, how good could they possibly get? Even their best week gets you a group of turds that had a good week.
“Best” week.

That’s different.

And stuff.

I'm going big on the -13.5 for Boilers. Expect margin to be 17+
i agree. Purdos veteran defense particularly on the DL is just going to destroy our OL and i don't see where we score very many points. also pretty experienced on offense with a good play caller, so i'm just not sure how we stay in this game. i hope i'm wrong, but i just don't see it being good for us.

A good week for turds Is getting flushed. These turds leave a splatter pattern behind (pun intended).

well, closer than i expected. the D was trash, which i expected. just don't have any guys on the DL, i had hoped Mathis would be that guy, but just turned out to be average for whatever reason. doesn't look like the same player from highlights i saw at TCU. and look at what TCU is doing, decent team, so not even sure why he transferred.

the OL in the 2nd half played much better, the 1st half OL is what i expected the whole game. whip not calling much running i thought was pretty stupid, i understand the passing game was working but burning some clock and giving the D some more rest might have helped them out a little.

i thought the refs were shit, didn't call much, let a ton of holding go by Purdoodoo which helped them as made our shitty DL look even worse. also, was it just me, but they were constantly using the crown of their helmet and nothing. that one hit on Thompson where the guy got a free shot, was clearly a crown of the helmet to his chest. and don't get me started on their RB, i felt like he needed to be made an example of, RBs shouldn't be leading with their head like that.

saw on the twitter feed, seems like people were impressed with our fight. I doubt Trev goes with Mickey, too much to clean up on the D side. Would like him and Bill to stick around though. Whip can go elsewhere unless he changes his ways, but hard to tell how much of his play calling is our shit OL and he doesn't trust the run game. I just don't think the pass happy attack is going to work here in November. the QB run is there and even if Casey just gets the 3-5 yards and slides, i'd think it would open up a lot for our RBs and in the passing game.

OK. I'm seeing where the algorithm's are at +14 now.

I was thinking Nebraska's defense was a lot better the last 2 games compared to the first 4 games.
They were, but only because Indiana and Rutgers offenses are horrible.

Nebraska is 116th in Total Defense at 449 YPG.
Purdue is 28th in Total Defense at 327 YPG.

In Nebraska's first 4 games they gave up 514 YPG on average.
In Nebraska's last 2 games they've given up 319 YPG
(Again... Indiana and Rutgers offenses are horrible)

Nebraska Opponents Total Offense

Nebraska: 61st at 415 YPG (worst offense Purdue's played yet)

Nebraska and Purdue are tied at 98th for Turnovers Lost
Purdue is 39th in Turnovers Gained. Nebraska is 57th
Purdue is 83rd in Turnover Margin. Nebraska is 90th
Nebraska and Purdue are both turnover machines, but Purdue takes it away more often.

Purdue is 83rd in Fewest Penalties. Nebraska is 105th.
Nebraska is 77th in Fewest Penalty Yards. Purdue is 116th.

Purdue: 38
Nebraska: 20

The game went pretty much by the stats.

I figured the Husker defense would be back to the first 4 weeks.

The offense played better than I expected. Not the running portion, but the Thompson/Palmer combo is dangerous.

That 6 pts is misleading. Purdue shot itself in the foot early with a lot of dropped passes is what kept the spread under the 14.
The first Q could have easily been 21-0 Purdue.
