Nebraska Cornhuskers The Official 10000 posts for a Husker Conference Championship

I think that the lack of news is more a Trev keeping a lid on it thing.
Personally I feel like he almost has to go with Joseph. If he doesn't, and the new guy struggles in the first year, the heat would be at inferno levels.

No way.

3rd year sure.

Thoughts on Matt Rhule?
.522 win percentage
Got Temple to win, brought Baylor back up. Shit the bed in the NFL.

I'd take Rhule. Has experience building stuff up and think he could do it here. But pretty sure he made a comment after he was fired that there wasn't an open job he'd take. He also got a really good buyout. Most speculated that he'd be doing some sort of broadcasting gig next year.

That's what I figured whenever I heard his name.

But rumors gonna rumor. Just trying to make noise in here.

I just saw a hit on twitter that NE is looking hard at Les Miles. Not a fan of that.

So, I watched the whole game (had something going on Saturday so only saw pieces).

I thought the D played well, not great, tackling still needs to improve a lot but man they r flying around more and doing a much better job of making plays.

The O though, woof woof. Play calling after Casey went out was trash, combination of whips being shit, purdy clearly playing like he hadn't practiced all week, and our OL still being our OL. Probably the hardest thing to fix in a short time. I still think Logan with more RPO, option, rollouts and we could have gotten something cooking. Ill was just really good at flying to ball and not missing tackles. Saw lots of good opportunities when purdy got out of pocket and put strain on D but then he'd miss throws or wasn't fast enough to take advantage on the edge.

Scott frost soft practices hurting Toure?

Yea, seems like it. Which is just really frustrating, he's been coaching for awhile, did he really think he was going to win games by having crappy practices? And the fact no one called him out on it way sooner. Former players that got to watch practices? Pisses me off, I wish I could pull shit like that and get paid that much.

Nebraska gave up 188 Yds Rushing. For just the one game it would come in at #112 nationally in Rushing Defense.
Nebraska is actually #115 in Rushing Defense on the entire season at 190 Yds Rushing per game.

Illinois averaged 3.9 yards per carry.
I had an old peewee coach that told us if we could get 3.4 YPC we'd never lose a game. 3.4 x 3 = 10.2 = 1st down

Nebraska gave up 367 Total Yds. To rank that for just one game, it would come in at #62.
Ironically Illinois is 62nd in Total Offense on the entire season.

Flip that to the week prior against Purdue.

Purdue had 122 yds rushing. However, Purdue is #94 in Rushing Offense on the season.
Purdue had 354 Yds Passing. That would be good enough for #2 nationally on the season. They are actually #13.

Nebraska is a mess everywhere and it's because of the lines on both sides of the ball.

Can't run block, can't pass block, can't stop the run, can't pressure the QB.

Honestly thought today showed that we have the talent but just need the right coaches. Well and maybe some better DL and OL. Whips was shit after he got through the scripted plays. Finally pulled purdy, but only gave Logan 3 plays, one was a dropped pass. Purdy under throwing guys was frustrating, left points out there because of that. Not sure if Logan would have hit them better but still just bad coaching decisions.

Oh I didn't finish my comment on talent. Announcers pointing out how young we are, while Minn was playing a bunch of 6th year guys and we were right there. PJ going to have a drop off when those guys leave while we still have room to grow with good coaches.

So, is anyone tuning in next week? As they say, “Tall task ahead!”

I would, but I think I'm gonna go get another vasectomy next Saturday.
Colonoscopies are much more fun IMO, but then again, I’m still shooting real bullets!
