Nebraska Cornhuskers The Official 10000 posts for a Husker Conference Championship

What? Didn't expect that to happen quite so quickly.

Quite the statement:

So what is Satterfield doing, holding Dana's clipboard or is he gone?

Hats off to @footballnut for blasting Scott Shanle on X + he answered my question about the Air Raid offense for this season.

That was despicable. Just ugly football on both sides. I was really expecting more discipline from a 2nd year Rhule team.

D - probably don't have to worry about TW leaving unless he takes another DC job. Just not getting enough pass rush, it looks good when they get pressure and force a rushed pass (the pick 6), but if that doesn't happen, QB has too much time to pick apart the zone he's usually playing. DBs are never close enough to the WRs. Rush D is hit and miss. Get gashed here and there. Just a lot of bending and then breaking when not getting that pressure mentioned before. It doesn't help the lack of holding called. Just really hard to get pressure when they are going to let so much go.

Offense - play calling did seem better, but just really where the sloppiness and mental mistakes showed. Again, DR just is not seeing the field well. Missed wide open guys, often focused on one receiver. People complain about poor pass protection, but honestly I just feel like he is scared to throw it sometimes and not making the throw when he should. We really need to do a better job of establishing the run and running play action off of that. They r trying to do it the other way but it's not working due to the inconsistency and WRs not getting open. I want to see more Haarberg, makes me sick you get one big gain and you don't come back to it with some different options off of it. Heck, just run HH until they stop it on a series. Gotta do more to spark something. No one to me shows enough emotion on that side of the ball. DR never shows any urgency, which annoys me. RBs just like to run into tackles, that's annoying too.

ST was basically our best group. Decent punting, made the FG. Allowed one longer kickoff return and the stupid fair catches inside the 5.

Coaching - just boneheaded stuff. That stupid timeout on a punt (my guess was they were going to fake but USC was playing a safe D), but why not just take the delay of game? Then put the offense out there just to stand around and take penalty. Stupid. Rhule needs to push more to run the damn ball and take more chances on D with tighter coverage. Stop letting the coordinators do whatever the hell they want.

I was expecting a blow out loss so it was a tad easier to watch.

Word is that Malachi Coleman is entering the transfer portal.

It's too late in the season to install an offense, but it doesn't mean he can't introduce some new wrinkles to the offense

Shanle has been a hater since the day they hired Rhule. He threw a fit while talking to Gary Sharp and hasn't been back to talk to him since.

Wowee! That was a good game. Best we played all year on offense. Lots I could say but maybe tomorrow. Just going to enjoy this tonight.

Drink up boys. :beer2::nutswinger::peace:
