The Real Championship.

Don't call it a championship, so yeah. The playoffs are merely an invitational.
So your only hang up is the word that is used? And because of that slight you want to form a new league.

ok

So you care more about verbiage than actual the best football?
Don't need 2 games between the same teams to determine the best. Amazing that Georgia wasn't good enough to win the SEC Championship but good enough to win the playoffs. And yes, I am looking at you, Alabama and Ohio State for your past sins.

Wasn't good enough to win the SEC, but good enough to beat the B1G champ.

Now with that nugget in mind, how well do you think forming your own league with the B1G champ is going to work out?

Don't care. Champions play for Championships. Don't care for Wild Cards in baseball or football either. At-large is for losers.

So you don't want the best teams playing for the championship, just the ones holding the conf champ title.

ok

Now you got it.
Seems like a great way to sell the league to networks.

network: "So you will have the best teams playing for the title?"
Scraps league: "no, we will have those that have won their arbitrarily created regions'
network: "but what if two really good teams are in the same region?"
Scraps league: "we don't care, one stays home so a lesser team that holds a arbitrary title can get a train run on them"

The conference championships should be part of the playoffs. You lose in that game and you are out.

So why even play the rest of the season? Just line all the teams up and single eliminate them throughout the season.

Conferences can decide their own way to find a champ. Right now, that is through the CCG. Now if you only want the top 4 of the Champs, so be it.

There's been 3 instances of an SEC non conference champ winning a natty, that's the only issue here. Nebraska, Oklahoma, Notre Dame(they were a part of the ACC last year) and Ohio State have all either made the BCS NCG or the playoffs despite not winning their conference, they just got their shit pushed in come NCG or Semi final time. That's the issue. Fact is the SEC has the most teams that are capable of winning a natty, hell, since 2010, 4 different SEC teams have won a natty, go back to 2008 and it's 5, go back to the start of the BCS and it's 6, ACC is the next closest at 3, and one of those was in the Big East when they won their title.

I like this for the most part ... I think all P5 Conference Champs should be in and 3 at large. 8 Teams is a good number. This years seeding may look like this:

1. Alabama
2. Michigan
3. Baylor
4. Pittsburgh
5. Utah
6. Georgia
7. Cincinnati
8. Notre Dame

There's gotta be qualifiers other than a conference champ for an auto bid. Utah had 3 losses, 2 of them to G5 teams, and Pitt lost to Western Michigan.
