The Real Championship.

Wisconsin had a legit argument to be included in the 2017 playoffs after losing their CCG following a 12-0 regular season. Had they been selected and went on to win the natty, guarantee OP would be singing a different toon.

B1G had a chance to prevent a rematch, they were completely overmatched

And you never saw me calling for their inclusion.

I don't remember if you did or not, but if they were included and they won, and you were in my shoes right now, you would be singing a different tune.

There's gotta be qualifiers other than a conference champ for an auto bid. Utah had 3 losses, 2 of them to G5 teams, and Pitt lost to Western Michigan.
I like Conference Champs ... that's how it is in every sport. Having "Wild Cards" or "At Large" teams is good too. Georgia is the perfect example. I said in the 2nd half, they were the best team in the NCAA (even after a loss to Alabama). It would have been a shame if they were left off. Cincinnati had not lost a game (Let's see what they have) and Notre Dame had a good season.

I'm glad Georgia won, as I said before. It would have been better if they had won the CCG, too.

As it is, you were 1-1 against Alabama. Takes some shine off of your invitational trophy.

Doesn't take a bit of shine off of it. No shine off the 2017 SEC Championship trophy either even though Auburn won round one. If you're gonna split games with an opponent, the second matchup is always the most important.

I agree that you are disagreeing with me.

one conference being head and shoulders above everyone else isn't good for the sport, but there really isn't anything that can be done about it. SEC's geographical makeup + individual school identities make it more likely for them to dominate the sport than the other conferences

Yes I am, and if the B1G and the SEC swapped roles, you wouldn't have this opinion.
And neither would you. And it ain't about the teams. It is about the NCAA being the end all judge. Every team should have the path to the playoffs laid out before Game 1.

1. Win your division.
2. Win Ccg.
3. Make playoffs.

The first two are gonna be good enough for any team with one or fewer losses most of the time. Resume matters. To claim a 10-3 conference champ from statistically the weakest conference in college football is more deserving than a 12-1 non conference champ from the toughest conference in football is too much of a stretch for me to get behind though.

The Alliance will quit the N SEC A and hold their own Championship. Inviting all G5 schools to join. All champions in Round of 8. Conference Championship games will be considered Round of 16. A hard salary cap will be installed.
The Real Champion....

I can almost picture him crying......

Fuck the ESPN Invitational. I'm glad Georgia beat Alabama, but I would feel better if they were at least conference champs doing it.
I don't know if you noticed, but your conference champs were in it...sort of.
