The remaining pieces, where do they land?

unless they re did their clauses i dont think the AAC is that much

the three that just left are paying $18-million over 14 years

if the Pac adds those AAC schools play as a 7 or 8 team conference for 2024 then the MWC buy out drops to 17 and add them for 25 forward.
also there has been a rumor that the PAC 4 is recieving some large sum for some reason that I didnt quite understand of near 400 million. they dont get all of it among the schools so much as for the conference. they could buy out some or part if they so chose.
could also be some sort of MWC dissolvement depending on how many leave. that could be something that CBS and fox want to renegotiate if 9 of the last 11 football champions left the conference. in the history of the conference championship game Boise Fresno and SDSU have accounted for 14 of the 20 participants. depending on who else is included they could be losing a few more of those.
if the can find a deal that at least matches that plus whatever streaming money could still be salvaged from the apple deal they could hit the 10 mil or more.

PS the details came out and it was worth 25 floor with added incentive with subs. so likely closer to 28
For shits and giggles what do you think the networks would pay per team in your hypothetical conference?

A gazillion dollars for Oregon and $2.95 for the rest.
If you have firearms in the house please don’t do anything rash we have called the authorities and help is on the way.

For Stanford Oregon State, Cal, WSU, Boise, Fresno SDSU, SMU, Tulane, Memphis? more than the MWC makes more than the AAC makes. less than what the Pac would have got. id guess 12-15 mil per schools if we are just talking about tv. if there is also apple since they clearly have interest in getting in somewhere that could total out to 20

I’d be shocked if it is much more than 10mm just too much dead weight and let’s face it Cal is a boat anchor.

if its just a MWC add 4 i think the MWC 4 Mil per contract would still be renegotiated and added to whatever streaming but then you do add different markets and teams. but I think that would be less than if you got rid of UNLV hawaii San Jose New Mexico for the AAC teams would be worth a little more.
Im surprised with losing the teams the AAC did that it stayed at 7-8 mil per school

I think they max out at 10mm if they could get that.

If you are Utah State that is a home run, for Oregon state it is a disaster.

The chances of pulling it off without lawsuits is statistically low. I could see a merger with the MWC that includes all its members and reorganizes under a new umbrella but taking from two leagues the challenges are too great. Plus if the buyout for AAC teams is 18mm and you are just asking 3mm a year there are diminishing returns.

Enough with the conferences. Beyond ridiculous

SEC just needs to let the B1G have Mizzou, A&M, Texas and Oklahoma.

SEC would have the best viewing product and still win the football natty every year
No backsies. You took'em, you keep'em.

The BIG needs a Carolina school - preferably North Carolina. After that, one of ND, TCU or GaTech.

Remember, kids, this is not about football. It's about the B1G Network rights fees - when the B1G picked up MD and Rutgers (who have added nothing in football), BTN increased their per-household cable tv charge from $0.10 to $1.25.

Adding Virginia/VaTech/Pitt/WVa/Cal/Stanford does nothing for them because they already have maxed out those tv markets.

The Georgia and Texas TV markets would bring in mondo cash money and ND is a money producing printing press.

It’s not about fees anymore because that model is broken due to the massive amount of people cutting the cord.

It’s about ratings now and who gets them.

I've never gotten this argument because streaming companies also bundle conference networks.
On HULU I've got BTN, SEC, and ACC.

HULU knows who's watching what where, and the conference networks can negotiate accordingly.

You can bet USC, UCLA, Oregon, and Washington fans are gonna watch BTN now more than they ever have.

They may yet get GT when it’s all said & done and no doubt they’d want UNC but Why wouldn’t they have just nabbed Texas a couple years ago? They were a better fit for the BIG in some ways anyway and they AINT no bigger brand in Texas college football than the Longhorns. And what market have they sewed up in Virginia?

How has the B1G already maxed out the state of Virginia market?

They have Maryland - which covers Maryland, DC and most of Virginia - it doesn't really increase the market enough to move the needle.

I would have taken Texas in a heartbeat, but Texas would have wanted a full share right off the bat, and that is not how the B1G does business. They could have taken Oregon and Washington last year, but waited until this year and got them at a discount.
