I can come up with homes for the remaining PAC teams, as well as a majority of the ACC. I don't see anyone wanting Boston College and maybe even Syracuse.

22 teams in each could mean 11 team divisions. Play 1 game OOC.

BIG: 22 teams
Cal
Illinois
Indiana
Iowa
Maryland
Michigan
Michigan St
Minnesota
Nebraska
Northwestern
North Carolina
Ohio St
Oregon
Penn St
Purdue
Rutgers
Stanford
UCLA
USC
Virginia
Washington
Wisconsin

Big 12: 22 teams
Arizona
Arizona St
BYU
Baylor
Cincinnati
Colorado
Georgia Tech
Houston
Iowa St
Kansas
Kansas St
Louisville
Oklahoma St
Oregon St
Pittsburgh

TCU
Texas Tech
UCF
Utah
Wake Forest
Washington St

West Virginia

SEC: 22 teams
Alabama
Arkansas
Auburn
Clemson
Duke

Florida
Florida State
Georgia
Kentucky
LSU
Miami
Mississippi St
Missouri
NC State
Oklahoma
Ole Miss
South Carolina
Tennessee
Texas
Texas A&M
Vanderbilt
Virginia Tech

Don’t want Miami, NC State or Vt.

The SEC selects instead UNC, Virginia and ND.

No way the B1G is taking bankrupt Cal with almost no fan base.

Also do you really think ND stays independent? They are going to have hard time filling a schedule with these megaconferences

Is it okay if I just pop in for a min to LOL @ the B1G?
The day is coming when there will be a financial Armageddon in college athletics. Add to that the inevitable political friction, family squabbles, scandals that piss off other conference members and financial disparity even within conferences and the end result will be Balkanization and the breakup of the mega conferences. Anything too big is destined to eventually grow weaker in the long run.

And everyone told me that I was an idiot for nothing believing that the whole problem was tNCAA.

So...

Because you need to play certain rival teams every year, you could go like 3-4 years without playing a game against a team that's actually in your 'conference'?

The ACC is currently set up that way with just 14 teams.

I do understand the Cal AD financial problems, but I can see USC and UCLA pushing for them to have another game close to home.

Idk what to think about ND. In a perfect world, they would have joined the B1G by now. It seems they are perfectly content being independent. They would have no problem securing 12 games, imo.

Is it 4 though? 3 years.

So then it will change to 5-6 years. The Jets play the 49ers more often.

They can push all they want but the B1G teams aren’t adding a team that’s going to lose every other team a bunch of money.

This is clearly about TV $$$, what makes that so fragile is that cable TV itself is knocking on death's door. Next up is streaming rights, and while that might take on the same dynamic as cable TV, we don't know that yet.

At this point I'd rather pay a flat rate per month to watch each mega conference and one to watch the rest and shut off cable TV (except for sports) period. Cable TV has sports and making people go crazy watching live news left to their name, it's PAC time for them.

The issue for ND will be filling games with quality opponents. The high profile matchups will dry up for them, as the teams in Megaconferences will have a bunch of high profile games in conference. What is the point of teams in the B1G and SEC to play top programs in OOC, when every team in those conferences will have at, or near the top, for strength of schedule.

It is the SEC model. Check out how many times A&M played Georgia since they’ve been SEC members.

ND will have no issue filling a schedule.

I know earlier scenarios had the SEC going after UNC & VT to get into those states but the thinking was that UNC (as well as UVA) would be BIG targets if/when the time came and both would rather be in that conference but now…? Who knows really, if the timing and money is right UNC may wind up in the SEC. If the SEC gets a shot at UVA I think they’d rather take them over VT TBH. AND.. IF basketball starts coming more into play ($) in the future , they may want Duke as well to sell that rivalry game.

The BIG has liked the big markets in the past so (JMO) GT and Miami might be in play for them as well as UNC/UVA and I wouldn’t be shocked if they got Clemson to join once they had a few southern neighbors for them to play/recruit with.

SEC just needs to let the B1G have Mizzou, A&M, Texas and Oklahoma.

SEC would have the best viewing product and still win the football natty every year
