Why do they have a slide rule at all? It’s cfb, the play is supposed to stop when he hits the ground anyhow. There’s no extra safety with this rule. It’s just a way to fuck up the game more.

I say sliding = giving yourself up is horseshit anyways. Make it to where they have to be touched down and any beta QB that slides is open to having his head knocked off by a DB

Get out of bounds if you don't won't to get hit. Fuck this sliding in the middle of the field shit.

So a quarterback doesn’t get decapitated when he is going to the ground on his own.

Can’t every college player slide?

I hate the one knee rule for HS and college.

If he’s sliding, he won’t. It’s illegal to spear guy on The ground anyhow

There is a reason this happened so fast…..because it’s the right call.

I’m not a fan of rules added to address gaps in other rules in almost all cases. This is not one of them.

Respect the opinion. Part of me still feels that way too.

But, this is a rule (slide rule) that is never going backwards at any level.

To be clear, this is not a new rule.

This is clarifying the existing rule to ensure referees rule on it properly, as they should have in the ACCCG.

Agreed. It’s not clear to me that he was faking a slide so much as he saw something and changed his mind.

Perhaps. It’s just hard to legislate intent. I don’t know that he intended a fake slide.

he looked like was about to attempt a slide to me...but you are right, I don't for sure know his intent. Without his butt getting closer to the ground, it's hard to say 100 percent. The day will come when a stumble will be interpreted as a slide and the play will blown dead now that we have the ncaa chastising the officials.
