This is the year

It used to be college football -- a sport that was better than the rest. Turning it into "the rest" makes it worse, not better.
Every time there has been a change to college football, you and your ilk have said it's going to ruin it. You've never been right. CFB has been awesome this year even with NIL, transfer portal, conference realignment, and the new CFP format.

And, if only one sport did it that way, perhaps that is the sport that had it wrong. So far we are seeing that to be the case.

it was a great weekend of football, that probably would have been even better if some of those games had elimination on the line. Alabama's was particularly great because not only was the game a back and forth close game with wild turns, but elimination was probably on the line for Alabama.
LOL, it was a great weekend, BUT it MIGHT have been better ... GTFOH.

This is him trying to push the idiotic narrative that michigan was the last "true" champ because of the different format. They've been pushing this since January. What's funny is, had a playoff been part of the game in the 90s, michigan would never be able to claim their BS 1997 natty because they would've been waxed by Nebraska.

I like those other changes (NIL/Portal ect). Realignment is still TBD -- feels like we're still in a transition period before we see the "final" form to really judge what happened. I think if you're a fan of a team left out (like OSU) you're feeling a lot more like everything is ruined than a team like Oregon who landed in a better spot.

I just hate the 12 team playoff.

It would have been better. Ohio State should now be hoping for teams to lose so that they can get back in it (which was also part of the fun, rooting interests). But Ohio State is still firmly locked into a spot.

Nebraska never would have scored a point on 1997 Michigan. Fact.

You do realize if we were still in the 4 team playoff era, OSU would still only have to win out and they're in. Hell, even in the BCS era, if they win the rematch with Oregon and go 12-1, they're probably playing the SEC champ in the NCG.

Probably not true. They'd most likely get jumped down the line -- especially if they were sitting out of the B10 title game (or maybe wouldn't) -- it would be way less certain than it currently is.

Just listen to youself ... that's the nonsense you want determining the champion of college football instead of a fair 12 team tournament? Let's let a committee decide it? One loss and you are out? Worse, let's let sports writers in a poll decide it, and you would probably like that better. SMH.

It's absolutely true. Only thing during the BCS era that would hold them out is someone like Miami or Iowa State winning out, and neither of them have looked anywhere near as good as OSU.

This is definitely more fair. That doesn't mean it's better.

If Oregon and Texas win out, they'd be in a title game over OSU in the BCS system. If OSU were to win out this year, they would probably be in a 4 team playoff but the margins would be razor thin. The reality is, OSU doesn't have to win out to make it into a 12 team playoff. If OSU loses to Penn State or Michigan, they're still probably in. And THAT is the ultimate crime against this sport. OSU can lose to the two best teams on their schedule...and still make it easily into the playoff.

Dumbass, I said at the start that if OSU wins out they're in. Obviously that can't happen if Oregon wins out.

Huh? You already lost to Oregon. From this point on if Ohio State wins out, and so does Oregon, Oregon would be in over Ohio State in the BCS system. What are YOU talking about? The B10 title game? Even if OSU wins out, they'd still need other teams (Illinois) to lose (not on their schedule) for a rematch in the B10 title game to happen.

What relies less on votes? The BCS that was literally decided 100% by BCS voters?
I understand, which is why I said the BCS was less fair than the playoff..........but something being more fair doesn't make it better.

Oregon will lose against Ohio st. in the Big Championship game, and Illinois won't win out.

Dear sweet jesus, it's impossible for Oregon and Ohio State to win out since they would play for the conference title. Also Illinois is irrelevant if we win out.

No, it doesn't make it better. The fact that we get to see the top teams in the nation face off H2H makes it better.
