Thursday Thread For Winners

I still have the same hours I had when I was in the office so it doesn't really blur anything for me. Except it is pretty easy for me to forget what day it is.... I am hoping they don't require my unit to go back in June but I am sure I will be made to go in
only time I ever care about hours is when I'm onsite at clients and those end up being 60+ hour weeks. Covid took care of travel.

Yeah, I'm hoping to stay as remote as possible. Hoping that the company's plan to reduce the office footprint in Manhattan helps make my case for full remote or like one day a week in the office.

Yeah makes sense.

My unit very rarely interacts with clients so we technically don't need to be in the office anyway so I am hoping we get that option. Especially since if they do I might move closer to my hometown where it is much much much cheaper

My job is the typical 9-5 so I don't need to meet with anyone... Rarely we are the back up and do but that's not very often

One thing I've enjoyed about having the office in the basement. I don't go in here much when I'm not working. I only take the work laptop out of the office when my wife is teaching lessons, which is for like an hour and a half right now.

My office is a converted dining room. Can't avoid it.

Though I did convert a bedroom into what would have been my office... but before I was able to move my desk, it became a workout room until we're able to go back to the gym.

In the spirit of Earth Day, I'm getting some poison to kill the groundhog that lives in the tee ball field.

Any of the other grillmasters here ever made their own pastrami?

I'm getting impatient with the brine time. Some recipes say 3-5 days, others 5-7. This is day 4 and I probably should wait until Saturday, but I want that shit now.

Yeah, my basement was going to be a long-term project for me on the weekends, until COVID happened, and the basement became a priority, because otherwise I'd be at the dining room table.

There's still a few things that I need to do in terms of finishing touches, but having someone do the framing, painting, and flooring was huge.

I assume you mean grillmaters, not gill, but in either event, what the fuck does it have to do with pastrami?

I've never made pastrami, but have made corned beef, which is pastrami without the peppercorn.

Patience, grasshopper.

doing the laminate flooring in my "office" was fucking back breaking.

The instruction videos make it look so easy... it just snaps together. If I were to do it again, I'd razor blade the tongue off every plank and glue them together. Sure, I'd use a case of blue tape to hold it all together until the glue dried, but I'd hate the flooring less.

that's my Jansen vaccine making me think of gills...

well, one is smoked and the other is steamed. Sure there are other spices involved, but it'll be on the smoker all day on Saturday. Or sooner if I get impatient.

Yeah, my BIL has been finishing the basement at his house to be able to give his kids a sort of living room of their own, and it's been a year in the making. Our project went a bit longer than we anticipated (I think it got close to 4 months with some of the delays we ran into), but I would still be working on the basement if I had tried to do it on my own.

Just imagine how pissed off you'd be if you smoked it now and it didn't have enough flavor.

Let it brine.

my 11x11 office took 2 weekends. It didn't help that I had to run up and down the stairs about 1,000 times for all the board cuts.

Ahhh.

I did not know that distinction. I understand the grillmaster deal now.
