Thursday Thread

Couldn't you just portion off part of it when you don't need a full grill?
That is what I do right now, I usually only need a grate or two. So it becomes a question of do I need a four-foot long grill where there's definitely going to be major cold spots on the edges, or do I go with a smaller kettle grill? Right now, the grill is at the end of the driveway. I could potentially put a smaller one up on the deck, and have it easily accessible for a weekday night grilling with the family. Thinking I'll replace the smoker first and keep the current grill for now, then maybe move to a smaller grill later, if I ever get around to putting a patio in the yard where the steps to my deck go.

I have a modified Smoke Hollow 44" propane smoker. It's friggin' yuge. I did what is called a "mailbox" mod, allowing me to use pellets instead of wood chips.
It looks wonky. But now, instead of adding chips every hour, I can do an 18 hour smoke with steady smoke throughout.
Smoke throughout? I never put smoke on things for more than a few hours.

Yeah, I probably shouldn't. Meats don't usually absorb much smoke once it hits 145 degrees. But I really like a smokey flavor, so I let it go.
On shorter smoke, like for ribs, I light both ends of the pellet maze to get twice the smoke.

I have an offset Char-Griller right now. Can use coal or wood for it, normally have to add coals a couple times through the smoke. Temperature control in the chamber is an issue, and there's a fair amount of heat loss. Would like to go vertical with the smoker at least, there are some decent ones around $300 that I'm eyeing up.

Then, it becomes a question of what I want to do with the actual grill. I don't mind having a giant grill, because we have had a few parties where I've filled the grill up, but most of the time, for some burgers and hot dogs, it's a shade overkill.
It took me the better part of the first summer to get complete control of the temp on the propane smoker. Now that I have it dialed in to 230-250, I just turn the propane on and off when I want to use it. I don't even mess with the dials anymore.

Maybe someday the talkie bike folks will make a grill

came into the office today to sign off on some procedures. Done and all good.

Saw they were getting lunch for everyone today, so decided to stick around. Ordered an Italian from Firehouse.

well Firehouse can't meet our order today, so just got an email saying "lunch not coming"

well dammit...guess I can go home now.
the important question we all want to know, but you can't answer, did they pay your company back or give them a credit for a future order?

A company who doesn't deliver on the products I purchase gets 1 star.

I read reviews before purchasing though.

Hyundai Tucson is #1 in Initial Quality.
Yea...the Tucson is a piece of shit. You are retarded for buying it

Just do what the cigarette smokers in your place do and remove the batteries, then buy a Big Green Egg.

Well that wasn't supposed to be that large of font. My bad.

It's battery and hard wired. So knowing me I'd do it and fuck it up. I am not smoking things, I just needed that so I could cook steak, chicken and hot dogs without setting off my fire alarm.

How you gonna impress the Bumble ladies if you can't give them smoked meat?
