That tank imploded under one atmosphere of pressure....the sub imploded under about 350 atmospheres of pressure....
It was a horrible design to begin with. The titanium end capes were bolted onto another titanium ring that was "glued" to the carbon fiber shell that made up the pressure chamber for the passengers. This is comparable to gluing plastic end caps on an empty cardboard tube from a paper towel roll and then stepping on the center of the cardboard tube. One of the end caps will pop right off. This is likely what happened after viewing the recovered debris from the Titan.
From what I've read, the submersible was probably an adequate design to descend depths down to 1200m or possibly 1600m. Given the savings on titanium, the carbon fiber may well have been justified. But the Titanic wreck was over twice that depth, and there was grossly inadequate safety features that would have warned the sub driver of a pressure emergency. Given that the company lied its ass off about the materials and construction, they're still gonna get sued.

Do you think she should be remembering their last breaths by pondering the son scared out of his wits and the fact he was only onboard because his father wanted him to be there with him on Father's day...only for both to then be killed because of it!
That she did not say he was indeed scared is understandable in light of the fact he is now dead. What purpose would that serve her to pubically expose an ugly truth.

The carbon fiber came from Boeing. Boeing no longer had use for it as it was passed its date allowed for aircraft. The vessel was experimental and only certified to a depth of I believe 4,000 FT. Titanic is down to 12,500 feet. The pressure is something like 6,000 PSI. Someone who went on a previous trip heard cracking coming from the hull. Another time they had issues releasing the weights that allowed the vessel to come back to the surface. The whole thing was a disaster waiting to happen.
