Yeah, my wife told me the thing about the carbon fiber. Apparently Boeing did not formally partner with OceanGate and has since disavowed anything related to the sub. It appears that, some Boeing employees may have acted as consultants on the design, but because of the homemade nature of the sub, the person most familiar with the totality of its design is the dead CEO. No one wants to believe that the thing was an expensive venture designed to gouge rich tourists out of millions, but that the submarine was never tested or certified by anything close to a professional diving organization was a massive clue.
