tOfficial 2021 NFL Draft Thread

Some draft thoughts:

--Niners taking Lance is the boom/bust pick of the draft. Much like Smith/Rodgers and Trubisky/Maholmes/Watson, the Lance pick will be measured against the success or failure of Fields and Jones.
--Can't believe Cincy passed on the OT. Can't fault them for taking a WR who has great chemistry with Burrows though. Still, shades of David Carr...
--What was Waddle wearing? Lapels were HUGE and he might as well have had a license plate hanging from his neck.
--Detroit taking the OT Sewell was interesting. OL was one of the team's few strengths last year, but that pick really solidifies that OL for the next several years, inside/out building.
--It was cool to see the trade down dominoes fall once the Lions took the OT, Sewell. Carolina wanted him, but b/c he was gone, tey took the CB, which forced Denver to take the other CB, which left Dallas without a CB to take, so they moved down which allowed Philly to take the WR D.Smith that the NYG wanted, so they moved down, allowing Chicago to move up to get Fields.
--Still, with D.Smith gone, the NYG did pretty well moving down as the Bears '21 pick could be pretty good
--Can't believe Dallas didn't take OT Rashawn Slater. Sure Parsons is a good player, Lee retired and Vander Esch has injury issues, but that seemed high for a LB at that point.
--Yet another year where a highly-rated player miraculously falls into the lap of either NE or Bmore. It's just not fair
--The Raiders really DGAF about player ratings. Then again, way too many of those 1st rd reaches they've made haven't worked out, so maybe they should start caring.
--Loved Washington's pick of LB Jamin Davis. Not a reach at all.
--What was with all the WRs that were well under 200 pounds? I don't see how half of them will be able to get off the LOS when they face press coverage from a CB that outweighs them 30 pounds.
--Jags take a good RB at the end of the 1st, fine, but then say they're gonna platoon him with 2 other guys...um, ok. Bad pick then.
--2 first rd picks out of Northwestern for the 1st time ever. Tells you just how good that team was.
--WTH was with some of those fans? Some of then were so tricked out they looked like team-specific pimps on ecstacy.

yeah, maybe our 2nd and the PHI 3rd can move us up to get the TCU safety
I am big on landing Moehrig as well. I also think we would have to move up to do so.
Wouldnt mind Barmore either
Heard Holland would be a good safety to land as well

Was watching Draft Central on the Cowboys site last night. One guy there was kind of big on JOK the LB being turned into a safety. I guess he is fast but only 205lbs. for a LB.
Curious what you college guru's think of that idea?

With so many offenses running the spread, a hybrid guy who can play LB or Safety is pretty valuable. Base defense is nickel these days.

I don't like MLB's in the first round any more than I like our habit of taking reclamation projects in the 2nd. I know we need defense help, but Slater sitting there was sure hard to pass up. Get him at guard and then slide out to LT as Tyron keeps breaking down.
I'd have been good with Slater or Parsons at 10, so either at 12 plus an extra pick is WINNING.

Switching positions in college is one thing.
In the NFL another.
Do you think he would be a good safety (intelligent or otherwise) if someone tried to move him there?
Obviously if he could. a Hybrid would be awesome. But many times these experiments end with not so great of results.

Hard to say. I don't know the player well so I really couldn't tell you. But someone with LB size (even if its a small LB) and secondary coverage ability/space awareness is definitely a useful cog in today's NFL defense.

@fordman84 here's more to feel good about.

The Cowboys got a good return for only moving down two spots. The difference between No. 10 and No. 12 in the NFL draft pick value chart is 100 points. The pick the Eagles gave up at No. 84 is worth 170 points. That 70-point difference in the Cowboys’ favor is equivalent to No. 112 overall, which is 17 picks deep in the fourth round.

Ok, yeah I guess we did get a premium from PHL and still the guy they wanted. Not thrilled with MLB still or helping PHL get a good weapon. Now Reagor can actually be a better WR since he isn't the #1, he always looked like a slot NFL guy to me and Smith looks a legit. #1.

Keep in mind neither JSmith nor LVE looked all that special last season. Parsons might bench one of them.

100% agree, both need to step up this season. LVE needs to be healthy. Parsons should bench JSmith. Hope we can get a S and DT tonight. Would love Bobby Brown Jr, but can probably get him tomorrow in the 4th.

Two years ago I remember watching the draft, I think it was the Philly one, and the truck cut to a camera too soon. There was some teams fan who was just standing there staring off in to the distance as the camera came up. Then quickly you see him look down and say "ok you want me to act crazy now?" and then starts just yelling is freaking head off. I understand some people play it up when the camera gets on them, but when the camera guys are going around asking for extra sauce...c'mon.
