You have to look at it as what is FSU’s value when they start playing UGA, Bama, LSU, Auburn, Tenn, aTm, OU, TX and the value goes up.

Clemson and FSU work in the SEC at a full share (and no one should get a partial share as that tends to screw everything up).

The question is can you justify UNC and someone else and that gets tricky. I think the league has the clout to push it through but is that the best thing for the SEC?

The truth is the SEC doesn’t have to add anyone and this perceived numbers competition isn’t

SEC has no need to add FSU though. What does it gain them?

Do you add a team that does NOT add money to all the other teams?

It also seems there's a chance this won't happen because of the number of votes. I know why the ACC (and schools that want to stay in the ACC) want this. Adding schools boosts the number up higher making it harder to vote to dissolve the conference. Based on the legal documents out there, you only need a simple majority (currently 8) to dissolve. If you add schools, it'll make it impossible to get to a majority to vote to dissolve. They can't find 8 as it is now (could change as things get more dire or if they finally wake the fuck up). So schools that want to leave by dissolving the conference to get around the GOR, need to keep that number at 8 and try to win over more schools. But approving members to a conference requires a 3/4 members vote. If they get 4 NOs, then the motion for expansion fails. Right now, you would figure FSU, Clemson, and Miami would be hard NOs. They just need one more member to vote No.

We've got a BOT member that posts on a team message board. He doesn't straight up give info away but gives vague hints from time to time. Reading between the lines, it sounds like VT was gonna be a hard No so I figured this was gonna fail because you know there's no way FSU/Clem/Miami would go for this. Reading stuff elsewhere, it sounded like Pitt was leaning No as well.

Yeah, it's pretty clear, IMO, that the ACC is finished. The current members realize this, and want to make it easier to disband the conference, not make it more difficult.

NC State is surprising because they are very vulnerable when the league eventually disbands and I see a stronger argument for adding more teams that would be committed to keeping the ACC going would benefit them.

FSU, Clemson, UNC and Virginia are no surprise as they are all very likely to land in a P2 slot when the dust settles. I'm surprised Miami wasn't a no.

I’m surprised Pitt was a No. Doesn’t sound like they are getting a P2 invite and while the B12 would take them I can’t imagine Pitts thrilled to jump there should the ACC disband.

If UNC goes to the B1G and the IF the SEC wants in the NC market (not saying they do but if) NCSt would be the team, right?
 
Worst case NCST falls to the Big12 at the end of the day

Not a confirmed no. This was just speculation from some people on their boards. So I'm not sure if they were. I'm like 95% sure we voted No considering our BOV member has never been wrong before when he posts his hints (though I guess its possible our president changed his mind last minute).

But for rivalries and culture, I think teams like Pitt and Louisville would be all about the Big12 if they could get out and the money is close.

Not that it matters but I thiught the issue was dropped because the votes to succeed weren't there. So it was a "no vote" because they already saw there were too many nos up front. Maybe I'm wrong. But it amounts to the same anyway.

I’d argue at that point Duke makes more sense.

However I think the SEC wins over UNC or they take FSU and Clemson calling it a day. Picking up teams for the sake of picking up teams makes zero sense.

Nah, you're right. They wouldn't bring an "official" vote unless they had enough to pass. But there were enough schools against bringing up an official vote so it stopped (for now). It's kinda just semantics talking about it. But either way, its still a No.
 
The BIG 12 just might be the most entertaining conference by the end of this :pop2:
