tOfficial Amazon Thread

Exactly, they are involved in these large acquisitions regardless of the look, when the big boys make any moves they gotta bring the whole legal team
well they do actually have to read the small print for a purchase like that

Prove it!! and fuck alexa/amazon cameras bunch of garbage!!

I stopped pretendng I'm going to do this. They got me. I hate it but I realize now I'm not going to cut my nose off to spite my face.

Also, inb4 someone who accuses me of being obsessed with Bitcoin brings up Bitcoin.
I'm down to about 4 personal orders a year and 2 on the biz account. Probably should do what you're doing with the Prime shit because I also don't really watch any of their content, either.

But that would mean I'd have to check to see if I'm paying for the Prime account or my work is. If it's the latter, it's not getting removed because the hoops I have to jump through to activate and deactivate are retarded. They've (amazon) had to refund me over a year of membership fees because they were double billing me and now I can't remember who pays for it anymore.

My sheer, unadulterated laziness costs me so much money all the time :bawling:

smart speakers/assistants are definitely a compromise, each individual has to determine their own comfort level. I have no illusions that if the government wanted to spy on me they could/would do so without the use of smart speakers but fuck Amazon ill take google smart speakers over that (already in it with my phone anyway)

I used my Alexa today to see if the baby was up. He was. Then I used my Alexa to talk to him from different floors, told him I’d come get him. He was like okay. Then we used another Alexa to listen to music while we played in the basement. Everything worked great.

Then I used another one later to listen to music in the garage.

Google > Alexa

Seems like so many people are just "lazy people" looking for "super convenience" over security UNTIL... it comes to bite them in the ass in the future.

I generally try to not get too involved with any IoT crap, so I don't have any big concerns at this time. I think I'm reasonably "tech savvy" and if these type of things "float people's boat", by all means, they can go for it!

That's why I like to use that particular pic when talking about this stuff. It's SO true! :dhd:

I shit you not, I haven't looked at a credit card statement in 10 yrs because I don't want to have to deal with all the disputes I know I need to open. :L

i mean that is the purist reason why people get these things. Convenience. My whole house is a smart home i have 90 things on my network(well on a segregated network) if it gives you any idea ;) from lights to outlets to washer dryer tv garaged doorbell outdoor cameras indoor cameras etc. Its beyond convenience for me, it allows to have a rigid routine without fail. I set announcements that help remind kids of things like before bed snack, things like homework, things like brushing teeth, i have routines that turn on lights in their rooms in the morning and tell them to wake up for school, i have their outlets for their tv power off at a certain time at night so they cant accidently forget to set a sleep timer or stay up watching a show. I have alerts that tell me if someone enters my backyard unknown to me so i have that extra peace of mind for my pool safety. this is just the tip of the ice berg for my uses, but its beyond simple conveniences :D

I don’t get offers to come back to prime. I wonder if it’s because I still order shit from Amazon?

I also had it while outside of the US and there is more content to watch.
