tOfficial Amazon Thread

I used Amazon grocery delivery service (during pandemic/pre-vax) and noticed a slight increase in price. Didn't matter, since they were delivering. Not one of my food products was 'made in China' and I even tipped the delivery driver.

I buy better products from my local vendors... like meats from a local butcher instead of mass produced Sam's Club meats when I can.

I will not buy the exact same product at a higher cost from somebody local just because they are local.
That’s how we get food deserts.

I made the mistake of getting a Google Wifi system, so the "point" has a built in Google Assistant. It randomly illuminates (searching for audio input) when it wants to, without either of us saying the buzzwords to activate it.

Mine doesn't, and neither do my other 8 or 10 assistant devices around the house.

I have the hub by the bed. It doesn't attempt to listen. Nor does the mini in my office. The wifi "spot" definitely does though.

Maybe it's faulty or something? I have an access point in my living room beside the TV (i can definitely see it when it wakes up) and never notice mine doing that.

No risk of that here. In less than 10 minutes I can get to 3 different Krogers, a Publix, 2 Walmarts, a Sam's Club and a Target. Not to mention the multitude of Dollar stores or Aldis also selling food. All that and I can still get almost anything I want from Amazon Fresh in 2 hours... delivered to my house, for less than all of the above.

What in the communist interwebz is going on here?

Bezos wanting our devices to swing?

My phone gives the government enough info on me without having an overpriced radio you can talk to feeding them stuff.

“Who Put the Dick on the Snowman” being the first suggestion on YouTube after typing the word “Who” after the song was requested still gets on my nerves

How does Amazon Sidewalk protect customer information?
Preserving customer privacy and security is foundational to how we’ve built Amazon Sidewalk. Sidewalk is designed with multiple layers of privacy and security to secure data traveling on the network and to keep customers safe and in control. For example, Sidewalk Bridge owners do not receive any information about devices owned by others connected to Sidewalk. Learn more here

Can this feature help the stupid ass drivers figure out how to read numbers so I'm not constantly getting my neighbor's deliveries? Gettin' me all jazzed about getting new stuff, then I find out it's not even mine :pout:

I still marvel that people willingly put devices they know are eavesdropping on them in their houses, and then act surprised when the little leaks of privacy elsewhere are made public.

B_lake was legitimately shocked that his Xbox might've been spying on him. But you gotta wonder why a device insists on being connected to the internet at all times AND be powered on. Then again, maybe don't have nude donkey shows in your living room, and the government won't care so much...

People use their phones for most things today. That phone is amazing in that unconnected physically to anything, it can make calls and better yet, receive calls from anywhere on the planet practically.

The way it does that is your phone yells out into the air....

"He's right here!"

...thus linking you and all your business for the world to see. You are connected to Skynet now. Accept it.

Alexa isn’t a device. It’s an app.

And this sounds like bullshit to me. My neighbor uses my internet bandwidth now?
