tOfficial Angel Hernandez Thread

Was watching live as it happened & for a quick second I actually thought Schwarber was going to attack him.

Both team's pitchers benefited from the large strike zone.
Again, getting a wide strike zone in the 1st with bases empty isn't the same as getting a wide strike zone with runners in scoring position.

Schwarber was right to be upset but needs to control his emotions.

It happened to both teams.

Although Angel was terrible last night, not scoring a run is going to cause you to lose games. A professional hitter has to adjust to the umpire. Just like a professional pitcher has to adjust when he gets squeezed. Part of the beauty of the game.

A called strike accuracy of 77% is one of the lowest I’ve seen

The game needs more managers losing their shit on umpires.

The issue is when assholes like Hernandez aren't consistent. There is no adjusting. Its just hoping and praying.

Yeah, it was pretty funny. Would have loved to hear what he was saying at the time.
He was saying that Angel was screwing both teams.

Funny I had this same chat with my assistants this weekend. A TERRIBLE call happened early in the first game. I went out and calmly discussed it and then accepted the fate. We ended up with three more just flat out "are you fucking blind?" going against us and I wondered how much of it was because they would huddle up and chat and say "this guy isn't going to scream so just rule against him".

The game needs more crybabies thrown out of the game. If the ump has a wide strike zone, you best be swinging away and quit taking close pitches.
Well said...

Hernandez is one of the worst umps in the game and he was pretty awful last night. However, that last strike on Schwarber was pretty close. Yes, it was a ball, but that wasn't THAT bad a call. However, there were a few others in the game that were just inexcusable. Think that was just the breaking point.
I mean, Schwarber is doing his job. Hader's got a .5 WHIP, and he drew a walk.

Hernandez didn't have a clue last night. Schwarber did emphasize that he was bad to both teams, and the pitch that got Schwarber tossed wasn't the worst pitch he missed. When an ump has a consistent zone, it's one thing. When you have no idea where he's going with it (he took the bat out of Segura's hands with that first called strike in his AB), there isn't much you can do.

Or, just don't have a blind dipshit behind the plate.
Equate their pay with their percent correct calls. Guarantee that shit would pop up to the 90's REAL fast. Get 77% of calls right, get 77% of your game pay.
