Look at the Football Team and Jets QB history like the last 20 years. Graveyards
That isn't on the programs. Finding a QB that can be successful in the NFL is extremely tough. That's why teams will pay an absolute fortune to trade for one and why teams spend big time draft capital on QB
Zach Wilson wasn't the 2nd best player available when he was drafted, but he was drafted 2nd overall. Hell -- if ANY college programs fan base should know how difficult it is for a QB to transition to the NFL -- it should be Ohio State fans. You have a long, long list of all-american, even heisman winning QB's. You have a list just as long of former OSU QB's who have been massive flops in the NFL.

College and the NFL are COMPLETELY different games. You don't have the wide open throws anymore. You don't have all day to throw the ball anymore. Everyone can run. Defenses are much more complex. You don't have the huge talent disparity with the CB's covering the WR's anymore. They have to have the athletic ability, arm strength and talent to go with the what they have between their ears, to read defenses and anticipate throws.

Damn it Stroud. Quit playing with my emotions and just declare already

You never know nowadays with NIL deals. No question he would be making more in the nfl and more importantly will protect himself with a secure, guaranteed contract but a couple years ago there was no question a player in his position would go to the NFL. Now, it’s not 100%, there is a little space. I still think he goes but maybe coming so close to a championship could fuel him to come back for another season

The two I can remember that didn't though were manning and luck. Both stayed when they were high first rounders

Yeah -- it is getting wild with guys staying. Blake Corum was all-american, B1G running back of the year -- he is coming back. Trevor Keegan and Zak Zinter were both All-B1G offensive lineman who are going to be playing on Sunday's. Keegan announced 3 days ago -- he is coming back. Zinter announced today, he is coming back. So we will we have, 8 of 11 guys returning on offense. Without NIL -- we would have lost 6 or 7 starters on offense to the NFL.

Stroud is in a completely different level of pay than the Michigan guys though.

The immediate pay isn't really what the player leaving is missing out on. It is the 2nd contract they are pushing back that is the big loss for them. Like with Stroud -- if he stays an extra year and doesn't get drafted until 2024. He will be under his rookie deal until 2029. That is where they get HUGE money, with 9 figure guarantees. So you are pushing that back -- that is the generational wealth contracts for QB's.

If I were Stroud though -- why leave college if you are a millionaire already, which I'm guessing he is. If he really loves it -- stay. The NFL isn't going anywhere. Just don't get hurt.

Actually I'm more surprised by an RB. There window is so much smaller and so much more difficult to make it to a second contract

Let's be honest -- Blake Corum isn't going to be a bell cow RB in the NFL. I'd wager he is making more in college than he will in the NFL. Also, being a RB, unless you are a Bijan Robinson type of back, you aren't getting picked in the 1st round. Corum would likely be a 3rd or 4th round pick. The #1 pick of the 3rd round only gets a $1.1 million signing bonus. Just the stupid one more year fund has raised 100k for the players staying in less than a week.

Cornelius Johnson who had the 2 long TD catches against OSU decided to come back now and one of our starting LB's is coming back now too. NIL is the only reason for it.

That happened plenty before NIL with kids that weren't projected high. I haven't seen Johnson on any lists going round 1 or 2

God no -- he won't be 1st or 2nd round. We don't have any WR getting drafted in the 1st four rounds.

Seeing how much NIL OSU alumni can round up before the end of the day lol

No NIL deal is going to get near what his signing bonus would be. If he shocks the world and comes back then it's simply bc he felt he had unfinished business and is comfortable with the money he has already made

It would be an expensive decision for him, as next year -- he has no shot to be a top 2 QB with Drake Maye and Caleb Williams in the draft. They'd get drafted over him right now.

I get why he would want to come back though -- he doesn't want his legacy at OSU to be the guy who couldn't beat Michigan and couldn't win the B1G.

If he showed what he did against Georgia all year he very well could have been.
