Presser Bullets: Ohio State's Quarterback Race Still Ongoing, Offensive Line Taking Shape

Ohio State's quarterback race remains unsettled, with Day saying "both guys deserve to play." Meanwhile, the offensive line has taken shape going into the last week of camp.

  • Day pointed to the precedence of multiple quarterbacks having success in a season for a team, with TCU quarterback Max Duggan being a Heisman Trophy finalist after starting the year as a backup in 2022 and the Buckeyes winning a national championship with a third-string signal caller in 2014.
  • There’s still a chance Ohio State’s quarterback race could be settled this week, Day noted, but once the team is in game week preparation next week it’ll be time to come up with a concrete plan — whether it’s with one quarterback or two.

I would be OK with the QB battle carrying on and them splitting snaps in the Indiana and YSU games if it really is that close. But they need to have it settled by game 3 (WKU). Going into ND still flip flopping would not be good.

I'm fine with using both for the first two games if the job is undecided but I think it would be beneficial to name the starter after game 2. Let him start a full game before the Notre Dame game. If this doesn't happen I guess someone wins the job vs ND-not in favor of this method

At this point I believe it's Brown but Day is "letting it play out" longer to try to keep McCord happy so he sticks around the whole season instead of bowing out at some point. You kind of have to play this game now a days when you have a competition like this.
