I am sure Husker fans know this year is going to be a bumpy one with the transition, but every change in regime usually includes that
That's what worries me about Wisconsin, but one thing Chryst excelled at was bringing in coachable players. I think they'll make the transition smoother.

I think Wisconsin has a really nice bounceback this year. Allen is a stud and the OL is one of the best in the conference. Mordecai might be your best QB since Wilson. Defensively you guys should take a step forward from last year, partly because the offense should also be better. I think we're probably seeing 9-4 after bowl games.

McCord officially starting vs Indiana and Brown will play. Sounds like McCord has separated himself a bit over the last couple of weeks. Either way, both will probably play well.

Still sounds like a 2 QB system to me, McCord named the "starter" basically as in someone has to take the first snap.

Seems like similar to Michigan last year where they named McNamara the "starter" but you knew he wasnt going to last as that long

3 throwaway games before ND, and I'd be shocked if McCord didn't start all 3. Brown should be getting playing time in every game, but I'd bet this plays out with McCord on top.

Weren't they doing alternating games with a different starter for the first month?

Yea, I mean maybe we won't do that exact thing. But this just feels like Day trying to keep the older guy happy for some reason. I could be wrong but we will see.
I'm not sure what the reason would be. Seems like quite a few insiders have said it's come down to the last couple weeks and McCord has been better. Either way, I feel good with whoever is playing. Day has definitely earned the benefit of the doubt there.

Then again, this will be his first white QB... :noidea:

Zach Boren was talking on THE podcast and saying that the coaches want to see McCord make more big plays instead of going to check downs too early.

Brown does go for bigger plays but makes more mistakes, so they want to see him make less mistakes.

Seems McCord was "playing it safe" more to hold the job maybe. Hopefully that means he will let it rip more in actual games.

It's going to still be ongoing the first few games.

If that's true, it may be why they're giving him the nod. Loosen him up a bit and let him show them what he can do.

Good grief our fans are insufferable though. Tons of unnecessary hate on McCord going down on Twatter.

The 1st post you see on the 11W post announcing McCord as the starter is "BAUSERMAN 2.0!"

A bunch of idiots who took what Zach Smith (clickbait troll) had to say 100% seriously

If he comes out starting slow against Indiana we are going to see the exact same "HE SUCKS BENCH HIM NOW!" Rhetoric we say early on with CJ Stroud.

Ironically enough when those idiots were calling for CJ to be benched, wasn't it to put in McCord? LOL

Yeah I mean I don't blame them for the way that Stroud started but the transformation was incredible. See what playing time does to a QB's career haha. I see it as the same, even by the time the ND game rolls around there are going to be plenty of issues with any of our QB's, OL and defense. I just hope the new starters on the OL mesh quick and the defense needs to improve-less big plays. It was ridiculous the last couple years.

OL is definitely my biggest worry. I'm glad they at least have a starting lineup set and are sticking with that and not flip flopping there though.

I'm actually fairly confident the defense will take a step forward. The secondary seems deeper this year and the 2 transfers will help big time, as long as we don't get royally fucked with injuries there again that unit should be a lot better.

Not really worried about the QB. I think McCord being more of a "manager" and distributor rather than a guy who constantly goes for kill shots might actually be beneficial for this team, just get the ball out quick and smart and let the playmakers we have do their thing. The OLine can run block fine, it's the pass blocking that is the ?. As long as the RB stay healthy we should be able to run the ball at a high level. I'd expect we might see more of a run focused approach, especially early, this season.

It might start out that way, but there's no reason to think McCord can't do the things Stroud did, and he may be more mobile. He might not have Stroud's elite touch on the medium range throws, but he has a stronger arm, and accuracy was a big plus for him coming into OSU. I think in a couple of months, people will look back and laugh about thinking McCord was gonna come in and just be a "manager". I really like Devin Brown but if McCord is beating him out, we're going to be fine.

I expect he will open it up at some point. Just saying that I have no problem with him just being a "manager" though if it came down to it. We don't need a all world dazzling QB with the weapons we have at RB/WR. Just accurately get the ball to those guys and let them do their thing.

If the oline struggles early. I trust McCord will get the ball out more quickly and decisively instead of holding it too long trying to go for the big play constantly.
