Crazy. Kyle Mccord is in the transfer portal
We broke Ohio State and I'm here for it

A starter, who started ALL games in an 11-1 season at Ohio State, bolted after a single season. Wild times.

Jim Harbaugh has the opportunity to do the funniest thing ever in the transfer portal.

Report is that the McCords did not like their convo with Day over the weekend.

It might explain why Day was so wishy-washy about whether McCord would be the starter going forward.

I mean, ok, it's good that Day is willing to reevaluate every position. Hopefully every coach too. 9/10 coaches stick with Mccord but if he isn't good enough to win it all then I guess look for someone who is.

Now Day better understand he is going to be held to the same standard

I think you have it backwards. This happened BECAUSE Day understands the standard he is being held to.

The guy who hired him is retiring in June. The new guy is going to be under huge pressure if Day loses to Michigan 4 years in a row.

If that happens, the only thing that will save him is a great showing in the playoffs.

I agree. There was supposed to be an "s" on understand. My sentence was meant to be "Now Day better understands he is going to..."

if?

let me say this again.

Going into his senior year McCord has a UDFA draft rating after Day coached 3 straight first rounders. We can criticize Day all day but he can coach the qb position.

It's not like he has been starting for all 3 years before that.

Also, in today's NFL draft world, no way does he go undrafted. He would have gone 4-7 bc people reach for QBs.

Mccord probably isn't good enough to get Ohio State where they want to be, but he isn't terrible either like so many want to believe

Only one of those guys had a chance to see any meaningful PT next season.

I do kinda feel bad for Cam Martinez. He was a terrible DB but he should have never been put in that position to begin with. He would have been better on the offensive side of the ball

McCord is noticeably worse than the previous three QBs (and he's still been quite good), but it's not exactly common for schools to consistently churn out 1st rounders like that. When's the last time OSU had legitimately bad QB play? Barrett/Miller/Jones/Pryor may not have been on the level of Haskins/Fields/Stroud as passers but they were good at worst and they could run all over you.

He's their worst QB in like 15 years. Whoever started before Miller took over. Bauserman maybe was his name? I'm gonna guess they get someone who is better, so acting like this is pretty dumb.

Ryan Day in a nut shell.

Michigan beats OSU in 2021 -- it was the defensive coordinators fault. Fires DC.

Michigan beats OSU in 2022 -- it was Conor Stallions fault - cue NCAA investigation

Michigan beat OSU in 2023 -- it was Kyle McCord's fault -- QB enters the transfer portal

Michigan just hopes OSU doesn't figure out, the common denominator in those 3 years is the HC.

Devin Brown is their backup, unless they go transfer portal or start a true freshman.

Yep. Bauserman. Him and Todd boeckman were both not that good but Mccord is better than both of them by a long shot

Yeah, they are definitely gonna bring in someone via the portal. Wouldn't surprise me if Riley Leonard ended up at OSU now. Even though he's been reported to ND. He's an upgrade for sure. There are a bunch of QB's with another year left who would be an upgrade.
