tOfficial B1G Thread

B1G is over $50 schmill, Big 12 depends on third tier... Texas makes just over $50, but they have ESPN. The conference money is almost $40 mill.

I don't know when each contract was signed, which is also important.
How does all this break down, tier wise and all that jazz? Never really looked into, would appreciate a link to educate myself if you got one.

I'm not an expert on this, but networks like ESPN, FOX, B1G Network, etc pay for first and second tier media rights. That goes through the conferences, and is the bulk of the money. Then schools have individual rights (like PPV, Longhorn network in the big 12, radio) that they can get paid for. It's less. I think the Longhorn network gets Texas $10-15/yr, which I believe is substantially the highest third tier payout

Michigan had to cancel on Iowa, and yesterday Maryland had to cancel on Michigan State..... so the Hawkeyes and Spartans are both without games..... the B1G should have Michigan State and Iowa play on Saturday..... perhaps in an indoor NFL stadium. The Indianapolis Colts are playing at home on Sunday so Indy probably won't work, but Ford Field in Detroit is empty on both Sat & Sun with the Lions playing an away game Sunday (sure the MAC football CCG is Friday night at Ford Field, but the stadium will be empty). Ford should step up and offer the stadium to the B1G for Michigan State vs Iowa.

Posted in another thread, but this is probably better. Looks like we're out either Olave or Wilson

I know I joke, but it's fucking pathetic the number of years that go by without a Nebraska player getting 1st or 2nd team honors on offense and defense. You want to know why Nebraska has sucked so bad over the years, here is a prime reason. 👆

I find it interesting that the B1G has an OL award named after Dave Rimington, who never played in the B1G.

Pat Fitzgerald does a really incredible job going coast to coast to build out a competitive team.

Haskell Garrett not being recognized as all BigTen is almost as bad as the call in the Clemson game last year.

There's a commercial for a bank on the Columbus sports radio station that talks about being the official bank of the SEC. The entire commercial is just about the SEC.

In Columbus. They're actively paying to put a negative light on themselves.

And the draft. The draft has a tendency to indicate two things IMO. Teams that don't have much talent so they don't get many...if any...drafted. And teams that weren't any good because of bad coaching and yet get a lot of players drafted.

If the Lions end up doing that, it will make my walking away from them completely so much easier.
Green Bay is going to the super bowl this year. Perfect time to jump on that bandwagon.

Wife is a Green Bay and Michigan fan. I am going to guess she roots for Cruela Deville and the Empire in Star Wars.
