tOfficial Make fun of the Mets thread

Remember when David fucking Carpenter ended our season in 2013 and Craig Kimbrel never ever warmed up late with a one run lead and the season on the line? Braves legend Juan Uribe hit a 2 run homer and that was the end
Yep. And then the Camera showed Our Bullpen and Kimbrel was just standing there visibly pissed.

And so it begins

The Mets is where players go to kill their careers. Look for Scherzer to look like Halladay at the end this year
Scherzer will be fine. He's only 37 and coming off a year in which he ended with a dead arm. And its not like the Braves have done better against him than most teams.

Expecting to miss significant time this year. Hate to see it, but at the same time, fuck the Mets.

So at a minimum, out 6-7 weeks. And that’s if it goes smoothly. And now rumors that scherzer is dealing with a strained hamstring.

It’s kinda crazy to think, if he has another injury shortened season, it’s going to start to be difficult for him to get into the HOF. He’s obviously a hof talent, but the last two shortened seasons for him have hurt. And he sorta started his career late.

The Mets deserve everything they get. Making a 37 year old pitcher who bowed out of an elimination game because his arm was tired leaving the fate of his team in the hands of Walker Spewler against the Braves the highest paid player in baseball is truly stupid money.

Old rookie, was good, but not elite for a few years when he started, and now he's 33 and injury prone. Similar to Corey Kluber. Dominant, but very short peak.

But that peak was over several seasons and it’s a pretty insane peak. It wasn’t like he was good and had one elite season. But covid and now injuries have cut into it significantly. But he’s 33 and has 77 wins. Granted that low number is largely due to the insanely low run support. And now wins aren’t measured as heavily, but it’s going to be hard to put a guy in hovering a little over 100 wins.

It's really not as long as you'd think. He made his debut in 2014, and he was good from the get go, 14-17 he was very good, but he took in to another level in 18. 18-20 were elite seasons, and 21 probably would have been if not for the injuries, he pretty well had the CYA locked up if he didn't get hurt, insane numbers through 15 starts.

If he comes back and stay healthy, I think he can get in, but he's gonna have to make it a couple more seasons to even have enough time to qualify for the HOF.

I would say the last four seasons hes been elite. Just two of them have been shortened. 4 years of being elite is a damn good stretch, especially when the other years are also very good. I think he’s the best pitcher in the game, and I really don’t think it’s all that close. But because of his late start, he’s probably going to need to go into his late 30s
