I wouldn't have, either, heehee.

It wasn't the observation itself, with which I largely agree (the exception being if the onions aren't going to be cooked, in which case I find the horizontal cut saves time, since I don't have to separate them into individual li'l pieces), it was the strength of your feelings against any who dare make the horizontal cut.
