In the 90s, I would get invites to these time share seminars and whether you purchased or not, they would give you a 3 day vacation to Canada, Caribbean, Mexico or Las Vegas. I would drag the ex to these listen to the hard sell, then decline and get a free trip. Did this 3 times before they caught on.

You didn't have to try to explain to your wife why buying one was a bad idea.

I was getting the hard sell from multiple fronts.

If it was up to her, she would have bought the scam. When she realized what I was doing she got embarrassed and it was difficult to get her to go along at the time.

Some of the free stuff we got was good.

But I go on vacation to get away the hard sell shit.

We sat in on a timeshare pitch in Hawaii once, in order to get a free scuba trip. I flat out told the guy, "look, we only sat through this so we could get the freebies, we have no interest in buying anything..." and he still launched into his spiel. Wife was trying to be all polite and "now, now, honey, let's hear the man out," and so forth, which only encouraged the guy that he could sell us something. I eventually got up and walked out, and she followed me a couple minutes later "after apologizing to the guy for her husband's rude behavior," she told me.

It was originally going to be a one-way flight but now we'll have to stop in Dallas first, and then on the way back we'll stop in Charlotte and then fly back to Nashville.

Yes, but did you get the trip or fuck that up by walking out?

Geez, dude, I acted interested, even eager to egg them on that I was legit. Then when they tried to close, I would ask about maintenance and assessments which they could not answer to my satisfaction. Then I'd become irritated and finally put my foot down.

Maintenance Fee = free and unlimited access into your wallet.

I'd be paying enough for access as it was.
 
There's only like 3 places in the usa to buy a time share and none of them have a beach. Vegas nola or San fran. Those will trade for anywhere you want to go. The rest are for suckers. I o ce met so.e idiot who own 3 :L

We had already gotten the scuba cruise, the pitch was held a couple of days later. So there was no need for me to play nice
