When I played Dixie Youth it was no more than 6 innings. Sometimes they would waive the rule for a really shitty team.Yep, in rec. ball. USSSA ball is by the inning.
This was why they never let me pitch. I had a natural curve that I just couldn't get rid of, no matter how much they tried to adjust my throwing motion. I should have hung in there until I could have played JV or varsity, but I lost interest around 13 or 14, and switched to basketballAnd no fucking curves
I had a love/hate relationship with that rule. Could always square up even if it took a few looks at the fastball but couldn't hit a breaking pitch to save my life so it was great as a hitter. But it sucked for trying to pitch, I can still remember getting warnings for throwing a GD slider. When I played Dixie Youth it was no more than 6 innings. One of the coolest things my parents ever did for me was to get me a pitchback net. I spent HOURS with that thing, trying out different pitches, and working on my defense. I just didn't have a mound to throw off of.I had a love/hate relationship with that rule. My dad was like the best pitcher in his age group in this area, and he was 18 when I was born, so he was still pretty young when he'd throw me "batting practice." I don't think I ever hit anything more than a weak grounder or a popup off of him.One of the coolest things my parents ever did for me was to get me a pitchback net. My dad was a knuckleballer. He thought it'd be easier for me to hit a slow-moving pitch. My dad was like the best pitcher in his age group in this area, and he was 18 when I was born, so he was still pretty young when he'd throw me "batting practice."
