Not sure about your state, but our renwal tabs are tied to the price of the vehicle new.... So you buy a $100k car, and the taxes are $1000. Buy a $50k car and it's $500. I'm using made up numbers, so bear with me....

Until the vehicle ages out. Then it's a flat dollar amount, because the poors only buy used vehicles.... *boo hoo sob sob sob*
