Yep, I was just checking the employee handbook the other day: personal days do not get paid out. I only have two of those left but I have a ton of sick time and vacation time. I'll never use any of that sick time.
 
I don’t have those. I don’t have defined PTO. If I leave, I get nothing.

But if they let me go, they have to pay me one year’s salary.
When i leave, if i give 4 weeks notice, I'll get the vacation days payout. Last job I left, I had so much time off they had to cut me an 8,000$ check. Former boss held it up for 6 months, too
 
Sounds like my divorce case.
It’s actually kind of bullshit. Theoretically, I have “unlimited“ PTO, but the reality is I rarely take any. I’m sure they knew that when they put us on this plan. The advantage for the company is they no longer have to accrue for unused PTO.

They reclassified our PTO so I don’t even know which one to use first anymore. There’s the time off holiday plan (32 hours), personal absence (280 hrs) and vacation (227 hrs). i think personal is the same as sick but I don’t know if it gets paid out upon departure.

That kind of setup is great for the people like me who are never sick, but bad for people who ARE sick often.

"Personal" is a big tip off that you won't get jack shit on departure. I'd check the definitions for all the categories.

Also "sabbatical" also sounds like a use it or lose it.
 
Do not go through hormone resources for advice. Their job is to protect the company from you, not to be your ombudsman advocating your interests to the company.

Sounds about right. Mine will not payout for sick time, and I have over 400 hours of it.

Looks like I'll get the sabbatical paid out, up to a max of 11 weeks. Floating holidays will be cashed out the first pay period in February for the year prior (only for non-exempt; exempt can roll over), but they don't get paid out upon departure. The PA (personal absence) can be used for any outage and there's 40 hours of "protected PA" but i don't know what the difference is. Either way, any accrued PA will be paid out.
 
ooh! We also don't get docked if we have jury duty and the court pays us for our time. i always thought that you get only their stipend or whatever... like $40/a day.
