Yeah, unless he was found to have done something unethical, that seems a bit much.
Can you imagine being the person who had to follow him around?
I'm guessing that person either is a gigantic asshole, or felt like a gigantic asshole.

I got more details later. The HR person felt horrible about it, that's why they let him go around and say goodbye to people. Instructions were to just tell him and then walk him out.

Seems like the incoming CEO wasn't a fan, there's already a replacement in the pipeline. Cold.
