tOfficial Twelve Team Playoff thread

I believe FOX proposed this because this will probably not officially be considered part of the playoffs, rather it will be the SEC's & B1G's method of choosing their 4 guaranteed playoff participants for each conference.

So essentially I guess these games under this FOX proposal are considered play-in games, not playoff games (they will be considered post-season conference games, just like the current CCGs)... and FOX probably will want the broadcast rights for the B1G's 3 vs 6, and 4 vs 5 games. And ESPN will probably want the SEC's 3 vs 6, and 4 vs 5 games.
It still doesn't make any sense because the SEC is under contract with ESPN. It's just weird that someone is attributing this to Fox who has no say in SEC scheduling, and when this format has been discussed for the past month by a ton of sportswriters.

It would create more inventory, and the networks would have to agree to pay for it.

9 games are coming.. CDC had an interview on youtube with OTF.. The conference is going that way and getting the 4 AQ bids for the CFP.

Since we play ou on a neutral site, we only have 3 home games in Austin when we are the home team in Dallas.. same for ou. with the 9 game conference schedule..it's guarantee of 4 home games in years like that.
1. You are the luckiest motherfuckers in the history of motherfuckers. This will cause them to do a re-balancing of the schedules and you will get a balanced schedule in 2026/27 instead of getting the tough schedule you should get.

2. I like the 9 game IC and have advocated for it. Just not unless there are the 4 AQs. I like the idea of each conference putting together their CFP participants in a way they want.

3. We share your home game concerns as we have the neutral game with UF.

Glad that UT/OU arriving is forcing the nutless monkeys in the SEC to play 9 games

Remember that Disney owns both FOX and ABC-ESPN. If Disney likes the idea of these extra Conference Championship Weekend play-in games involving the top 6 teams in both the B1G & SEC, and they feel that they can make more $$$, then it'll probably happen.

That's not true. For CFB, Disney = ESPN + ABC.

The SEC is tied to Disney for at least the next 10 years - 2034.

thank goodness too.. fuck putting your best game on at noon
Before you became an SEC homer, we had to deal with CBS getting to pick the first game. This year was 100% better with everything being decided by Disney. I hope we never go back to multiple network partners ... I get that it might drive more money, but the convenience of having all scheduling under one roof is awesome.

we were part of the big12 deal.. that had Fox picking games every other year.. it sucked.

I'm confused now. I remember Disney buying FOX approx. 5 or 6 years ago.

I guess it must be a separate division(s) of FOX that Disney owns? Such as movies, TV shows and certain channels, I guess? I know that some programs produced by FX such as Shogun, etc. are shown on Hulu. And FXX channel broadcasts a lot of FOX shows such as The Simpsons and Family Guy. I guess only some FOX properties were separately carved up and bought by Disney 5 or 6 years ago?

Fox, FNC, etc. are a separate company

yeah i thought Disney purchased Marvel films from Fox.. also thought they bought some RSOs from them as well.. or maybe it was Ballys that did that.
