tOfficial “Weed Growers” Thread

Friday night forecast low of 29 degrees.
Lows bounce up a little for a day or two, then 27-24 the next 4 days.

So
I'll harvest on Friday

Have the 'King of Fans' set up in the garage for air movement.
Have the Mason Jars.
Have my hygrometers that I bought.

Don't dry too fast and Don't dry too slow.................... WTF.

Drying vs Curing

Watched tons of YouTube so wish me luck.
This is really more of a practice run for next year.

Oh, and the State of Oklahoma e-mailed and told me my Card is being processed, so I'm legal next year.
6 mature plants ought to get me by.
Maybe grow big ????

I trim the leaves as soon as possible, then hang dry for a a couple days. Then snip buds into paper bags. @beardown07 told me about that. Don't fill the bags too much, maybe 2 to 3 layers deep, amd shake the bags up daily. Did that for about 2 weeks.

Curing is arguably the most important step.

After the paper bags, put into glass jars, and you wanna "burp" those a few times a day (gently shake and then take the lids off for 10-15 minutes) at least for a couple/few more weeks.

I think proper curing is where you achieve a tasty, smooth bud. If you ever smoke harsh, throat-hurting bud, it was either not flushed properly, or not cured properly. (excluding just overall shitty schwaggy buds)

Back in the day, curing was often skimped on, cuz dealers gotta deal en sech. Patience is a virtue.

Off Topic:

While I was surfing YouTube for info, this came up and I had never seen it.
Never buy a tomato plant ever again. It really looks to be this easy.

I tried a few varieties in 8 different cups, and 6 have just sprouted after 7 days.

When should I start this process for next growing season?

When should I start this process for next growing season?
Don't.

Grow from real seeds, and THEN you can do that with that harvest.

Most your store fruits and veggies are genetically modified to make sure the seeds are not viable, cuz Big Ag are cunts.

When should I start this process for next growing season?
I'm not sure exactly.
I have some sprouting now, and I guess I'll try to grow them in the garage with the grow light until spring.

But I would probably start them about 2 months before you plan to put them out. ??

I'm not sure how strong copyright laws cover strain names, but the nickname for the variety I grew is "green crack".

The proper name is Dream Queen from Humboldt Seed Company. Seeds are available in 5 and 10 packs. Runs approx $10 per seed for feminized seeds.

Green crack is what I used to get clones from my friend

Ok
It's dried and trimmed and put in Mason Jars.

Ended up with 6 quart jars, mostly full, with some space at the top, like they said.
Have no idea if that's good, bad, average, but there it is.

Have the Hygrometers in the jars and have a target of 62% RH. 65% currently.

I'll let you know in a couple of months if it cured up ok and if it's worth a shit.

Practice run #1 complete.

Yeah
Fuck that waiting shit.

Smoked it.
It gives me the same exact high as the medical it came from.; which is great.

It needs to cure to develop better taste and smell, but the high is great.

Ok, so I was able to wait 4 days and it hasn't cured much, but....................................

Just go through the process of curing still, and poach from it as ya go. You have plenty.

Paper bags for a few days to a week, then glass jars.

Smoke from every jar, and getting in and out of em' will be the burping process.

It not only makes the weed taste and smoke better, but it also helps it store and last longer.

and here's a question.

this stuff will probably dry out before the end of it, and I will have to re-hydrate it. I was wondering if you dipped the end of Q-Tips in lemon juice, or orange juice, or just about any other liquid that smelled good, and try to infuse whatever smell into the plant, by putting it in the jar ??

Small piece of orange peel is something we used to do. Not too big because there’s a lot of moisture in that peel.

How heavy was the taste when you smoked it. A lot, or just in the background.

And, do you do it every time, or just now and then.

It wasn’t too bad. Most of the issue was if you put too much in and everything got too damp. Haven’t had to do it in a long time.

In anticipation of my card, I have been getting some soil ready for the next grow, which will probably start right after Christmas. That will be 6 autoflowers. YouTube is full of people using 3-5 gallon pots and doing fine.

How does everyone grow; in the flower bed, a spot in the yard, in a pot. And do you do anything to the soil ?

Google tells me that 40 lbs of composted cow manure is .75 cubic feet, or 5.5 gallons.
I get that at the Home Depot for about $2 a bag. Used it for years in other applications. Doesn't stink/smell, isn't 'hot' at all, and it's almost as good as miracle grow shit.

2 bags of composted cow manure = 11 gallons
5 gallons peat moss
2 gallons of Cotton Burr Compost
1 gallon of Earth Worm Castings
2 gallons of pine bark mulch/compost from the yard.
3 gallons of pearlite

So, 21 gallons of soil with a bunch of fluffy pearlite.
I will round it to 20 Gallons.

To this, we add;

3 cups all purpose Espoma Garden Tone 3-4-4 with 5% calcium, 1% Magnesium, 2% sulfur
2 cups High Yield Blood Meal
2 cups High Yield Bone Meal
1/4 cup Lime
3 Tablespoons Humic Acid
2 cups Down To Earth Bio-Live 5-4-2
1 cup Down To Earth Azomite

At planting time, I will add Mycorrhizea to the roots of the plant, and some Epsom Salts to top dress, a couple of tablespoons each.

This is close to what I have used for years in smaller quantities on other plants, and seems pretty standard on all the YouTube video's I've watched.

I'll probably move into some other organic fertilizers next time, like Oyster Shell, Crab Shell, Bat Guano, Fish Meal, etc.
I think all of those are the same, but different in small ways, and I think that's what it takes to build potencies, and flavor.

I don't think this mix is 'too hot', but will avoid putting a germinated autoflower seed directly into it;

I have a City trash can about up to the top, and I'm guessing it's about 75 gallons of soil now.

This is a 'super soil' mix where all the nutrients are in it already, so all you do is water, so they say.
No need to add liquid nutrients, although I will do that too at certain points along the way.

Is this too hot, or not hot enough.
Feedback welcome

Found a local Dispensary that sold Humboldt Seeds.

Bought an Autoflower, 'Chunkadelic' I think is the name.
They had about 10 varieties, and some photo period stuff too.

Test grow #2 about to commence.

I have 3 seeds in some water now.
If the tail breaks out in 24 hours, I'll put them right into the containers they'll grow in; no transplanting.
I have 3 gallon cloth grow pots I'll put the super soil in with a small divot in the middle to be filled with Coco Coir, so as not to burn the fragile roots.
