Transfer Portal

But they're paying the wrong people. Pretty confident based on what I've heard that Williams Nwaneri made more money as a freshman in NIL than Darius Robinson made as a senior. Darius Robinson was a first round pick who poured five years into Mizzou. Williams Nwaneri was a gigantic heaping of potential.

This isn't about Darius or Will personally. But the money should be going to the kids who have already proven they can produce at this level for your school. Instead it's going to the transfers and recruits and shiny new toys. It's like the NFL before Sam Bradford broke things and the NFLPA demanded a rookie salary cap.
We agree, but that is on them. When they got one player, Mizzou went nuts on video. Think what that did to every other player they got that year. Have to spend it right.

This is the major problem with the NIL era and "free transfers".

This dude pocketed a bunch of money for zero production and now he gets to simply parlay that into more money somewhere else?

What are we doing here?

I'm fine with them getting paid, but this idea there's no strings attached or obligation by the players is terrible for the sport.

Mizzu did pay a lot to land him a year ago.. But the word coming out was that he is upset over the lack of PT. He felt he should be getting more time than what the staff was giving him. Again, this is why you have to do thorough evaluations..

I can easily think of at least one way to fix the transfer grift and that is to tie their NIL to performance.

Why is it that the NCAA won't allow NIL deals to be 'performance-based' again?

OH LOOK.....

"NIL rules explicitly prohibit performance-based compensation, meaning that college athletes cannot receive money directly tied to their athletic performance on the field, as this would violate the principle of amateurism and could be considered improper recruiting; essentially, NIL deals must be based on the athlete's name, image, and likeness used for commercial purposes, not their playing ability on the field."

i don't think Nwanderi left Mizzu because of money.. i do think he left because he wanted more PT

So he's transferring without monetary gain.

Do you think he winds up at a G5 program? He'd be sure to lots more playing time there.

Point stands that if NIL were 'performance-based' then Misery collectives would be out nothing.
The Misery athletic department would be out nothing more than scholly stuff.

The avenue is there for players to grift.

shoot he might.. he got a huge bag just to commit and sign with Mizzu.. To me personally, I don't think this has to do with money.. he wants to play. I'm sure he's not going to go anywhere just for PT and nothing else.. nor should he.. but he needs to get on the field

Micah Hudson has been fong'd to aggy

Then he oughta fit right in at LSU. Come on down to the byu, boy, play a little football in between jail time.
Pretty sure that was his first stop.

Any unsolved smash and grabs in the area? He may be back.

Yes. I’m sure signing the guy who quit on his team mid season because he got benched for sucking will work out well for them
