Transfer Portal

Pribula to WVU according to my sources.
They have to change the system. I don't blame the player as he is making the best decision for his career under the current rules, but to have a backup QB leave when you are making a playoff run really sucks.

NOTHING should happen until the fucking season is over. How is that not common sense?

Imagine if NFL free agency started right after the regular season was over. I can stay a backup linebacker for the Chiefs or Bills or go get paid double what I'm making from Carolina. Do I do what is best for my family or risk injury / the market drying up by staying with the team through a playoff run?

Truly retarded seeing all these guys enter the portal with games still left to be played.

Yeah, I agree. The system makes it impossible on the players that make the CFP. I'm not surprised he's doing it especially if Allar plans on staying.

I have to wonder if it's the NIL collectives putting pressure on these kids to commit now or we'll offer someone else?

As I understand it, players that have declared for portal entry can still play in their current team's bowl game (i.e. Penn St).
I think once they've committed elsewhere that goes away. Particularly if they've actually enrolled at the new school.

He won't be eligible to play in WVU's bowl game because "Players cannot play for multiple teams in one season."

It's simple until it's not. The season isn't over until January 20. The academic calendar typically starts around the 10th, give or take 5 days. You have to give the players time to meet with teams and find their new home so they can start the semester.

I agree it sucks, but there really isn't a good solution that is also legal.

Any player demanding playing time, and even situationally playing time should be told to fuck right off. That’s just locker room cancer.
lol you think your QB portal'd in without a guaranteed starting spot?

So, does Ohio State have a QB next year?

Or are they in the same boat we're going to be in -- starting a true freshman?

Looks like they'll have Julian Sayin (RS fresh) and Tavien St. Clair (Fresh) next year. That it?

This is how it is now a days, you really can't expect even as a top program to have established depth at QB.

Sayin was 99% going to be the starter next year, so this is not unexpected, i'm sure Nolan saw that writing on the wall and decided to take his chances elsewhere.

Kienholz is still lingering around as well, I expect we will see him in the portal at some point though. I'm gonna assume we will go after some dude who's ok with being the 3rd stringer at Ohio State just for emergency depth purposes.

Is Dillion Gabriel in the portal? Is he vested for his pension for College Football?

Just kinda wild -- everyone is rolling the dice with freshman or having to sign a 5th year start who played it out 4 seasons at like Vandy before getting good.

Yep lol. the days of true player development at the upper level schools are over. Guys are constantly gonna jump ship if they don't get enough run right away.

When it comes to the lower level schools they are basically just a farm system for the upper level schools now. It's got to be even more frustrating to be a coach at one of these schools, develop guys just to have them jump ship when they gain the ability to do so.

That’s it for now but those two will compete for the starter. if Noland stayed he would compete but it seems like one of those two guys that will win it.

Devin Brown gone. Dude was not a good passer.
Keiholz looked mid tier.
Noland unknown.

They didn’t lose much at the qb position, they just lost depth

He was there ONE year and had the chance to win the job next year. I just don't get it to some degree. At least give it like 2 years at a program and actually lose the starting job before bolting. Look how many times a kid has gotten injured somewhere and then poof, you're now the starter.

I'm assuming he knows it was probably going to be hard for him to beat Sayin out, I think it's pretty obvious Sayin was more than likely going to be the guy. I get it but there's still a big risk for a guy like Noland considering he's only been in college 1 year and has zero real experience still. He could transfer somewhere else and still not win the job wherever that is.

Did he demand it? Freeman would never promise that. It’s why Jaden Mickey redshirted. He wanted more playing time. Freeman didn’t promise it to him so he decided to redshirt the rest of the season then transfer.

Yep unfortunately just the timing of everything kind of makes it hard to do anything about it.
