Transfer Portal

it's the same way in the NFL.. players can talk to players.. It's when the actual organizations speak to players outside theirs... when trouble arises for tampering.

However agents, reps, FAMILY? they are immune to it
Yeah sure, that's fair.

just find it funny that evan stewart..heading into his 4th year of CFB.. still isn't a #1 WR
Because he is all about the look.

Yup, there is illegal tampering and there is legal tampering. Happens at all levels. Lewisville HS yesterday was slapped with 2 years of probation in basketball for recruiting done by an assistant. However, parents of their baseball team outright recruit at tournaments and nothing anyone can do about that.

Calling him the starting center is disingenuous. He’s the backup center who was forced to start due to injury and likely was going to a backup role with Ashton Craig coming back or Knapp getting moved inside.

I have no doubt it is more than just players. Going to go out on a limb that Oregon is tampering. $4.5M is crazy even for the best WR.

That makes more sense
We’ve had 4 OL go into portal so far. None were shockers. The one I’d hate to lose is Gurbey Lambert. He’s going to be good but might be the 6th man going into next year. If he gets impatient he may leave but I would likely be a 3 year starter when he gets his shot.

The likely starting 5 next season could be Knapp or Jagusah at LT, Schrauth at LG Craig or Knapp at Center Jagusah at RG Wagner at RT. Lambert could get in there as well. We got a 5* in Will Black coming in but he needs to add weight.

I’ve heard a few Tate to the portal rumors.

Paying to outbid the poachers is why programs are hiring general managers.

I'd say the NCAA has got to do something about the tampering but there probably isn't much they can do unless you can directly prove the school or someone under the direction of the school is doing it.

It's basically the same as the "Well the kid and the school can't control if some family member is taking money for the kid playing there!"

ND’s first OL transfer portal guy has landed at Tennessee, Sam Pendleton.

As for Tate, not sure why he'd still be planning on running a kids camp in April in Columbus if he was transferring to Oregon or Texas

Yeah it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I have no doubt he got some offers to be a possible #1 at other schools. Hard to see a better spot as a #2 with Jeremiah seeing so much coverage and double teams + he has Hartline. If a team goes over a $1M than it is difficult seeing him back.

He had 733 yards as the #3 this year. He will basically get the same volume as a #1 at most schools would get next year as the #2 here. He can (and likely will) go pro after next year too. Makes no sense to transfer and who knows what happens when he can stay here, be a very productive #2 and get drafted decently early after next season. That $1MIL now could cost you big time in the long run when it comes to very near future NFL money.

If he were a true freshman this year I could maybe see it. But he's likely only playing 1 more year in college.

When it comes to Jeremiah Smith, Miami offered him insane money to jump to them at the end of his HS recruitment and he declined, I can't see him taking the NIL bag to go elsewhere now.

He is a Buckeye for life. No chance.

Losing Tate would suck but it wouldn't be a end of the world loss. We have plenty at WR and i'm very high on Quincy Porter incoming. It would be much greater to love Smith

Smith and Downs are the 2 most important players to retain, not that they were going anywhere anyways but i'm sure the poachers have been hard at them.

I'm sure he's not planning on transferring, but probably keeping a door open if the right opportunity ($$) presents itself

Can't blame guys for playing the game by its current rules

I really don't think Belichick takes the UNC job if he didn't strongly think changes are coming though. This current system can't last.

I don't think they can ever step back from it though. It's here to stay

It's hard to prove "tampering" because whoever is doing it would have to be proven to be directly tied to working with the school. Like I said it's the same loophole as some kids uncle or whoever taking a bunch of money when a kid went to a school pre NIL they just would say "well they can't control that it's not the kid or the schools fault no harm here".
