A well-sesoned cast iron frying pan is priceless. Top notch cookware and self-defense weapon rolled up as one.

Funny story about that...after she moved in with us, the first time I used my Moms cast iron, I was cleaning up and had her pan at the sink ready to wash it. She sees me grab the bottle of dish soap, yells "NO" and comes running to the kitchen, fastest I had ever seen her move. lol

Then she explained the concept of seasoning and how many years of seasoning her pans had.

Tsunami fear is real for me.
Yeah... those would definitely NOT be a fun thrill ride...

Most probably think of a Tsunami as a bunch of 40+ foot high waves, but it's the "flood surge" that is the worst effect of a tsunami.

I have said this before, but anytime I am at a beach with the family, I am always looking for the fastest path to higher ground. I refuse to sleep anywhere right on the coast at sea level. We did that one time, and I never slept more than an hour at a time. The sound of waves is relaxing to some, but I hear every variation from wave to wave, and it makes me nuts.
